I just stumbled over a new idea, want to type it down before I forget!
Preparing to do the Historic Racing Car Cup in a '63 Corvette racing car. Usually I do a few laps around an empty track while trying to beat one of the faster ghosts I've got saved, okay? Usually I'd load up the '66 Jaguar XJ13 ghost, perhaps.
But I decided to load one for a Mitsubishi i-MIEV instead. The i-MIEV ghost is super-slow of course, but this forced me to slow waaay down. I basically followed that dinky electric car's ghost all the way around for an entire lap until the final chicane, then launched the Corvette at full speed!!
It's weird, but I think doing this caused me to drive a better (lower) lap time in the Vette once I was at full speed.
Which is just psychological, of course. But I also managed to beat my Jaguar's time right away: 1:40.795 in the 'Vette versus 1:40.938 in the Jag.
