Which of these free forum software packages do you prefer?

Invision Board. Neowin uses it and I'm happy with their boards.

I prefer phpBB, it has a cleaner look to it then Invision Board does.

Isn't phpBB 2.2.6 or something out?

2.0.6 is the current stable version. 2.1.2 is the latest release I believe.

I tried installing phpBB and I get this weird assed error

phpBB Critical Error

Could not connect to the database.

Well, do you have a database set up? You kinda need one for running a forum...

Have you configured phBB to connect to that database? (I'm assuming it's a MySQL database, right?) And, have you configured the MySQL database itself? (I don't know if the forum software will automatically do it itself, but I doubt it).

Uhh. I don't think so, my hoster guy told me that he set up the database. So I uploaded the files, and he told me that he was gonna talk to the server people about something because he recently switched servers so maybe it's something to do with the database. My setup your board screen is 100% the way it's suppose to be, so it's probably an Internal problem. I have all of the files uploaded.
