I'm having some trouble finding out about this. I have a friend who has it but I don't know what it costs or what hardware/software required to watch TV. Is there a service provider? Does it matter where you are located to watch TV and what channels you receive? I just need some simple info.

Sounds to me like this friend is a perfect resource.

Not sure, but you may need something like Chrome cast or a dedicated thing.

But from what I have read.

It is like Cable, you can get your internet service on it and it can have a Paid-TV service on it

Our ISP offers IPTV. You just get a set top box that plugs in via ethernet cable from them, pay a monhly fee and off you go. Services probably differ but we can watch any show from the last 2 weeks at any time, fast forward commercials and all that jazz - it's beautiful.

I've got IPTV, and we have it as an addition to our fibrenet connection. I think in North America it's more likely to be cable with internet on it as Grayfox says. We still have cables here, only CAT 6 Ethernet cables from the STB to the router. We've got TV on demand for the two main Danish channels (DR and TV2) and pause- and restart programme on some channels. Though it works great when it works, and it doesn't limit our fibre in any way either. 👍

I was wondering if I could catch a lot of foreign channels (European) through IPTV. Is there any limit to what you can watch on IPTV, like would it be region locked to Canada?

As far as channels go, it'll be much the same as cable TV - you'll see whatever channels your provider offers, so probably not too many foreign ones.
