I have recently started my GT5 from scratch after getting platinum trophy and now I am using only cockpit camera to race and learning and adapting to drift with this view as well. Yeah, the view is limited but I find myself now interesting not to do good in drift but engoy this view and so on. Hood camera wins, of course, and the difference between cams I think is only time, required to get used of one. What do you think?

I think you should stick to hood view. Hood view is best for drifting.

If u can take the shaking/vibrating of the cockpit view than use that. Other than that hood view is the best imo. 👍

In car view... Only NOOBS and FOOLS use bumper and hood cams...Using bumper cams and hood cams is a total fail..And is in fact the biggest, most unrealistic (Aid) in the game..IMO of course..

TRUTH...:)👍:dunce:

Let the flaming begin:sly:

Your wrong, hood view is good for estimating distances, it also has good visibility . I agree bumper cam is crap tho, anyway if cockpit view in gt5 was as good as in LFS Id use it

EDIT: also the sterring wheel is really annoying when you use 900 degree wheel.

I'm wrong, In your opinion...I use a T500rs (1080 degree wheel) not annoying for me...Yes hood cam does have great visibility..Maybe we should all mount steering wheels on our roofs, for better visibility... See I'm right..

It's really funny how people in GT5 Edit out truth and facts to fit there opinions.

Again Hood/bumper/chase cams are all EASY buttons.. For people who are new and still learning..

Please use whatever view works for you..I only use in car view.. In my opinion that is the way this game should be played..

I bet real life drifters and racers could see better if they drove from the roof too..:dunce:

Im not saying real life drifters should seat on the roof... All im saying is that the Hood view imo is the best in GT5. I use cockpit view in LFS, if the shaking wasnt so bad in gt5 Id use it probably. Or maybe its just because I play on a 20" monitor? :indiff:

When tandem drifting, I think you should use the bumper cam, especially if you are leading because it's the only view in the game that has a easily accessible mirror. The cockpit also has mirrors but you need to press a button to look to either side, while using the bumper cam you just need to look near the top of your screen. :sly:

Can we stop comparing a video yo real life please.

I didn't compare...

I made a point...Everybody can see better from the roof...In GT5 and real life..

Using In car view is in fact more difficult..And takes more knowledge and skill to perfect...People use Hood cam and such because it's easier...:sly:

Haha that's why I like hood cam so I can't see the person behind me (no pressure)

I only race and drift in cockpit and I say I tandem very well as long as I can look to my right or left inside the car. People say its hard but if you keep doing it you get used to it.

When you whant to perfome something GOOd on track there is no way better dan hood camera but the point is HOW poor you are when you want to qualify youself SO good in drift pretending to be skilled drifter on a track using all advantages of a wide cam?

I live in Russia and I have ricently seen on a TV programm when skilled drifters used R/factor, GT5 with a cockpit view to skill thier experiance in a real drifting...It says for me TOO much...

I've pretty much never experienced this shaking you all speak of except in extremely overpowered cars.

I prefer cockpit view almost exclusively, but I've also noticed other obstacles of the view. Such as lighting; at Laguna Seca in the Ford GT you can't see jack in the glinting sunlight.

Not sure about drifting as I prefer my tires to go forward.

Nice trolling, sir.
Cockpit view while drifting is like drift in a earthquake level 9 in the Richter scale. So if the world will ends in 2012, cockpit is the perfect camera.

By the way im training in the last days using the Chase camera, figuring how to solve the lack of physics / inertia feel. It can help to heal my donkey visor syndrome while tandeming.

What the? People consider hood view the noob way... cockpit ain't that great, the wheel only turns left and right while my real wheel is going crazy also in real life I could turn my head not press left and right buttons to look out window

Well, not sure how I'm trolling..

Reading what you wrote, it is you sir who are trolling..

All you talked about is what I said.. And not what the O.P asked for:dunce:

So go look in the mirror when you say TROLL...

Or if you trying Claim greatness using "chase cam"..Get real:tup:

Have you ever drifted in a cockpit view before? Most cars are slammed with hard suspension I guess that's why the camera shakes so much.

BTW I can see this thread going no where so let's just settle on people's own preference. All cams have there advantages and disadvantages...

And to the maker of this thread there is no right or wrong, just your own preference and what works well for you.

Ok bye 👍

I wouldn´t even need to read your defecations, saying that a choice of camera design a noob profile. The collection of annoying smiles and the "let the flamming begins" is more than enough.

And yes, i was re-trolling you. Because honestly i dont care about what people use for play (camera options, devices...), since they know what they are doing in the track and dont mess with my game. In fact, unlike any other, the trepidation at higher speeds while using a cockpit view is a big unecessary inconvenience.

So if somebody mess up and justify that is using a wheel or a cockpit camera and (second his version) is harder to drift using those things, shame shame shame... but i dont give a damn. If you pick your guns, know how to handle it or stay away of the serious drifters.

And last but not least, FOR ME is harder to feel and control the car using a chase camera than hood or even another kind of narrowed first person view. Im just training using it because i want to improve my tandems.

Doesn't matter to me.

Cockpit, Hood, Bumper, Full, I use all views, but I prefer the full view, then the Hood.

Very well put..But you are just confirming.. In car view IS harder and takes more skill..Which was my point to begin with..So,thanks...

As I stated before, These are my opinions...If you are a Serious Drifter, then you are missing the point of drifting (fun)..

Done

Thanks,playnthru

P.S I suck at drifting:dunce:

Cockpit view all the way. Everything else is just tacky. I always have better time driving in cockpit view it gives me better feel of where everything on the car is. I disagree with everyone on the shaking, it's not bad AT ALL. I've always used cockpit view because you get a better feel for the car, not to mention the added immersion makes it much more enjoyable compared to the rest of the silly views. I honestly don't see how anybody uses them, drives me insane when I'm in a standard car. But, to each his own. If you want to enjoy drifting and have the added immersion, use cockpit. I also find it sometimes helps to remove HUD, less distractions, but if you're in a car like the m3 were you cant see your rpm limit then it really makes things tedious.

Cockpit view sucks, sorry to say it...maybe it would be better if there was decent head tracking available(outside of practice and arcade modes) but there isn't...not to mention the distracting 180 degree steering wheel movement..so let me be clear, if you have a triple monitor setup w/ 3d, cockpit view is the way to go for the most realistic immersion...anything less is as realistic as drifting in a surgical neck brace w/ horse blinders on..I personally prefer bumper cam, but that's only because hood cam seems like it's on the cars roof

Really, why would you call hood cam a newb thing? and why would you even bother comparing it to real life? Last I checked, I had a head I could swivel around my car so I could see more then just a crappy view out a little window on a small tv. Besides, I'll take any advantage I can get, I've never heard a racer say, lets restrict my view, I think I can see to much. To the op, all the more too you for doing this, but to me, cockpit view is just a gimmick to me. And souther excuse to hear when that crap kid rams everyone off the road.

Whether in hood cam or cockpit, you have limited side visibility. Personally, I like cockpit because when you are tandeming close you just barely see the other car in your window, it's fun.

I've found it tricky at first when I first my g27 but now its pretty easy.. And it makes it a lot more fun..
if im intoxicated I usually use the speedo view

To me, the bumper cam doesn´t really seem like it´s on the bumper.
It seems more like the cockpit view without the cockpit.

When i was using the DS3 i always used the cockpit view, but when switching to a G27, the wheel animation was just to annoying. Now i always use the bumper cam.
