Is elite mode suggested when using a wheel?

I'm using the DFGT and I cannot seem to get the hang of the racing in Shift 2. I believe I'm racing on one of the lower difficulties. Would switching to elite mode possibly help me start winning some races? I know the problem with the input lag is part of the problem but it seems from reading through several threads people have seem to overcome the lag and still win some races.

Steering lag has never been a problem for me. On slow cars its not so noticeable and while I progressed through career i just got used to it. Maybe you have to fiddle around with wheel settings. I've played on hard/elite from the very beginning though.

Man I won the first set of races with relatively no problem. Now on the race where you drive the Lotus at Suzuka I can't even come close to placing in the top 3. It's not a lack of experience issue either. I don't know I guess I'll wait and see if the patch resolves my problem and if not I will be trading it in for another game. I really want to like this game but if I can't win what is the point of playing.

The race with the Lotus sucks. I was fighting just to win, other then that I have no problems with my DFGT.

You just have to mess with the wheel settings and tuning the suspension on the cars. Helps a lot

You were able to win it though? I guess I'll keep trying.

Keep practicing. I struggled to win it but I can do it every time now. Try elite. The aids mess up the control of the car.

Plus, you do it now you don't have to "learn" again without aids.

True in the post above. Turn off stability and traction, it will cut your lap time by several seconds. Once i was doing a time trials and after couple of session i noticed that my lap times were 2 second off my regular pace. I don't know how but traction and stability controls were on, i immediately turned them off and gained back my precious seconds.
Since there's a lot of oversteer in this game, especially on corner exits(may be only in my case and my driving style), and traction and stability controls impair your acceleration out of the corner which slows you down significantly.
But yes, i agree Lotus sucks. Leave it for later if you can't do it now. Don't trade the game until you try GT3 and GT1 because that's where the fun begins.👍

Yes, after the first patch this event was finally winnable for me - and quite easily. The biggest help for me was the realization that in the first lap and a half your tires still need warming up and you have to brake earlier and not while steering. After that you can brake later and throw the Lotus into corners.

Edit: also, don't restart when you're losing but finish the race. The AI will eventually be more forgiving if you keep losing.

After the patch It took me 3 restarts to end up 2nd. handling Elite, difficulty AI medium. You really have to remain concentrated the whole race and make no or few mistakes, otherwise you won't make the top 3. Finishing 2nd also makes you win the price car.

Well switching to elite seemed to work. After a couple "practice" runs I was able to come in first. I feel this game just has quite a bit of a learning curve and I will figure it out sooner than later hopefully.

^It does have it's own learning curve, but once learned this game is awesome.👍

Good to see you completed the Lotus Challenge.Took me about 3 tries to beat that one.I figured out that i had to make my steering inputs less sharp in order to beat it.

You can always progress in the game first and come back later. It'll be a lot easier after the Viper and LFA events.... :D

Those two events stand out as 2 of the toughest to me.👍

This game deff has a learning curve and with the lotus race you really have to be smooth with the steering (like what was already said.

I've only tried the viper elimination race 2 times and I know this race is going to suck. I was really looking forward to that race because I'm a huge VIPER fan, but when the first turn came I was like "wtf did they do to the handling of my baby" lol.

congrats to the OP for winning it

Yeah man that Viper felt very heavy in that race. The trick to this race is keeping the car smooth(slow in fast out) opposed to going fast round the corners, like for other events.Just remember on the last few corners be in first gear. You can shave .500 seconds off just in those corners being in that gear.

cool thanks, I won't be playing shift 2 for awhile. I'm playing PRO STREET now, I love taking a muscle car on the drag strip and doing wheelies and still running 8s lol
