Is higher HP really better for drifts?

higher horsepower makes it easier, but you have to match that horsepower with grippier tires. the easiest way to drift is with slicks and a ton of horsepower. the hardest way is with a basically stock engine and sim tires. guess which one earns more respect ;)

maybe you got your settings wrong or its just your driving. i tune my cars to respond and react to my driving style, especially my hachi. try playing around with settings your comfortable with

The power you put in a car................mmmmm.....that depence on your drifting style and skill, oh! and settings also.

YOU do not need high horsepower to make good drifts....
I personally like a high horsepower car because i cna drift all day and as long as i want...
But i disagree with LANevo.... i use simulation tires no matter what, simply because most of the high horsepower cars come with great stock tires...(SUPRA, VANQUISH, VIPER, RX7)

More skill???...... Try a 300ZX ~900hp.

No not really, then your getting too much wheel spin

That doesn't happen if you're careful with the "X button".:)

my fav drift is get my 800+hp chaser with sim tyres and hold it on limiter in 5th

keep it that way all the way around the track and drift the whole thing non stop, even drift on the straights.....
very very extremely hard:)

depends how you drift it, try what i said in my last post

very sensitive throttle, steering, brake control needed

You really don't need to have that much power. And anyways, where would you get the money to buy those mods? It's cheaper and more realistic to keep the hp low and buy simulation tires.

I only put a few power mods on my drift cars, basically intake/exhaust, tuned rom, and a few drivetrain parts, sim tires, and full suspension. I'd much rather play around with suspension settings than try more power, sometimes its my skills, plus this way it translates into real life a little better.

I do a little of both.

Some cars i have are high pwoered some arent.

Sometimes i have the most fun messing around with drifting on stock suspension with just sim tires, drivetrain mods, and few engine mods.

i also do a lot of low power drifting aswell

i also like to drift standard cars
