I know they said the game releases in march of next year in Japan, but is it possible that PD are just toying with us and we could get a big surprise and have it released here either by the end of this year or beginning of the new year?

Probably just me wanting this game now now now but i guess you never know.

What do you guys think?

This has been posted before in many other threads, but I'm not sure what to think. Why else would they not announce the North American and European release dates or at least give a general statement, like "the N.A. and Euro release will follow the Japan one. We will be more specific at a later date..."? That's ALL he had to say to prevent all of this nonsense.

That's why so many people are still hoping for this year and I don't blame them. With the way N.A and Europe's release is being handled, people are wondering why the big secret? Come on...we'd better know something from those TGS interviews that are to be posted Monday.

I even don't know logical answer why Japan gets it before other regions?

Are US and EU version really so different from JP?

What's the main difference?

The two usual culprits for release dates are licensing issues and marketing initiatives.

Licensing is obvious, marketing could be almost anything... maybe traditionally one region does better with a midweek release than others, maybe one region has a major holiday another doesn't, maybe the company wants to give one region a warm fuzzy over another... sometimes it's just a matter of the number of copies available to ship and staggering a relesae becuase of it.

Well, i guess if you guys are right and there is no chance in hell well i guess i'm just gonna have to forget all about GT5. I remember this last year, and the year before, we went through all this.. exact same this year and you know what? I wouldn't be surprised then if we don't see it next year either...

When Forza 3 comes out yeah, i am going to buy that with my xbox 360 this christmas.. i was really hoping it would be the other way around but sadly not. GT5 is not just another title thats in development to me, they have just left it to long : ( I really wanted it to be released this year just as much as the next guy, and i know they have probably done this for the best but if we are all being honest, its a huge, huge letdown.

The game is going to come out when it's going to come out, people are just going to set themselves up for big disappointment time and time again.

They didn't announce Europe/USA release dates because GT Mobile.

Sony knows that, after the Japan March 2010 announcement, people in US/Europe are expecting the game to be released at the same time or even later as usually. So, when GT Mobile is released next week, its sales will be boosted due to lot of people would be wanting to grab some GT for the 6 month wait. And then, like 3 weeks after the GTMobile release, they announce Dec 2009 for Europe/US.

I say 3 weeks later because in one hand they need to give some space for the initial GT Mobile sales, on the other hand, they need to announce the 2009 GT5 release some weeks before it happens to start the massive PS3 sales as soon as they can before christmas. And as someone said, Japan has Final Fantasy by Xmas, Europe and US dont have a system seller.
And one last thing i noticed, 3 weeks after Gt Mobile release (1 October) is 22 October, the day before Forza 3 release. Wich could mean nothing.

Im waiting for US/Europe releases and ready for anything (good or bad).

I like your theory, but since when do japan get games later then us? They are normally at the forefront.

I think they will get GT Mobile later than Europe/US.

Edit:No, it seems that GT Mobile is going to be released at the same time in Japan. I read somewhere that the Japan release date would be later, but it was wrong.

So, to answer your question: since Dec 2009:D
There's always a first time. And Europe is the largest market for GT series.

The PSP go only comes out on November 1st in Japan, maybe that's where the confusion comes from (I've certainly mixed up the two in my mind before).

I think it's also weird that the PSP go comes out later in Japan than elsewhere, but it may give me an opportunity to make some Japanese folks envious on my vacation next month. :)

I don't think so:indiff:

Most likely the PSPgo thing with GT will be Sony's big bet for this year's Christmas. So don't expect anything for this year. Our best chance will be a worldwide launch on (best case scenario) March '10

Considering PD's history in giving provisional release dates I think its much more likely to be after March rather than before.

There are several ways of looking at this.

1. The most likely outcome, A US/UK/AUS release around 3 months after japan.
2. The game will sell in Japan regardless of timing of release, but the game will sell better released just before christmas every where else!
3. World wide release.

I go with 1, which puts my may prediction of release everywhere but japan to be likely!

You've got to be kidding me. The only games we get first here in Japan are the ones made by Japanese software companies. Games made in America or Europe usually take a long time to get released in Japan. NFS Shift doesn't come out 'til November here.

If I remember correctly GT4 was released in the West very soon after Japan which is quite an achievement given the amount of translation involved (in -game and in the instruction manual etc.) and licensing regulations.

While it is a possibility GT5 will release in EU/US before Japan, it will probably be after, rather than before. I think the best we could hope for is a release in the same week it is released in Japan.

Europe is the biggest consumer of GT series so we should get it first. But logical would be even more if whole world would get it at the same time.
