Is it too late to get 1.2 version of GT2?

I just bought a playstation with GT2. I was very excited until I learned that it had lots of bugs. i read that sony was exchanging copies for fixed versions. Are they still doing that? The game is complete with all manuals and such.
Thanks,
Brian

I don't know, I doubt it....besides, version 1.2 is the same as the greatest hits version (the green bar, you know). Are you sure you don't have the GH version? If not, you can buy it for 12-15 bucks....sell the other one to your friends and tell them it's the newest racing game for PS :D

Welcome to the show, Cap.

I wouldn't worry about the bugs too much; they are easy to steer around...nothing too horrendous. Do not set more than 8 records at the Max Speed Test, and you'll be okay. I would definately save your game BEFORE you set records at the Test Course, or when you set that 9th record (toppling the 8th one), you will lose all the cars in your garage. If you forget, just do not save your game until AFTER you have inspected your garage. If you get N/A, then restart the game immediately, and your garage should appear as you had last saved it. Or set your records on the Arcade Disk.

Other than that...you will only complete 98% of the game, and the car wash is only 50Cr...but those are about as major as it gets.

Besides, early 1.0 versions will allow you to race-modify a Ford Taurus into something those other versions don't get a taste of...but I won't ruin it for you.

I don't understand the whole 'versions' thing. I've got the greatest hits version, and I can race modify the Taurus, the carwah is 50Cr, and I've never had my garage dissappear.

Well, you can always race modify the Taurus, you just get a different result in 1.0

First, there was 1.0, the really buggy version, with all the misspellings and glitches and stuff. And your garage does not empty out every time you make 9 records on the Max Speed test. I know, because I used 1.0 for a looong time without any problems, including setting many Max Speed Test records. I think it's something to do with the way you set the records or something, but I'm not 100% sure, so if anyone wants to try to set off the bug, save your game beforehand.

Then, there was 1.1, which had some of the stuff fixed, and causes a little trouble to gameshark users without an enable code. (if you have to ask, don't)

Then there was 1.2, which had a few more things fixed, and is supposed to be the Final version.

Finally, there's the greatest hits version, which is essentially 1.2, though occasionally this doesn't seem likely, as some gameshark codes that work with 1.2 supposedly don't work with all copies of the greatest hits version.

Skynrd does know what he's talking about, and I managed to erase my garage "on purpose" to see how it's done. I had 8 records before, saved the game, and then did a run in my Espace F1. I set a speed good enough for 7th place...but it kicked my '93 Supra speed off the list and when I checked the garage (I did not save, mind you!) it said N/A...no cars. So I immediately restarted, and all my previous cars were back in garage, no Espace F1 record, either.

So avoid the Max Speed Test. Use the Arcde Mode or run some laps in the Tuned Turbo No.1 event if you're interested in top speeds.

There are a few people whom get crazy horsepower in some cars with a weight of zero pounds, and then they save the game. This too, will corrupt that car, but I've never had that problem, and I've been playing GT2 since April of 2000. If you get a car like that, don't save the game, just restart it. Again, this is incredibly rare, so don't worry too much.

Do a serach in the GT2 forum here, you'll hear the good bad and ugly stories, and some interesting (though very unimportant) bugs.

How can you check the version? I got it about 2 weeks after its UK release. And I can race-modify the Taurus to a red and white livery. No problems so far neither...

No, that's in 1.0

Unless you've got some new Greatest Hits that nobody else has, or if you have a 1.0 marked as a greatest hits.

It modifies to be a NASCAR no matter what version, but only becomes Mark Martin's #6 car in 1.0, the rest of the time it's just a generic looking NASCAR type car
