is Kaz the only game developer to also be a professional race driver?

I wouldn't call him a professional, more of a "gentlemen" driver. They're more in it for the sport, not necessarily the race - even though he has raced (I think?).

He has won his class in the Nurburgring 24 hours on more than one occasion. If you not seen these races yet, there are many free to watch episodes available in game on GTTV, & they make for great viewing! :D

@VBR: Damn, I was mistaken, that's a pro right there!

I think you're right that he's not a pro in the sense that it's not his profession, but he is quite a fast driver & very competent to boot. I remember it being reported that he put in the fastest lap out of his team the first time he raced there. Kaz said it was all the practice laps he done in GT that made the difference! Seriously, watch all the Nurburgring episodes on GT TV, they're awesome. :)

Honestly - I have no idea of what Kaz is capable of. When you drive the N24 it's all about consistency and you also should not forget that in 2012 e.g., they had 1 or maybe 2 opponents in their class ;)
Anyway - respect to Kaz - he lives motorsport and that's what's all about!

Almost an unpaid semi Pro. Hops in car with a team and drive as good if not better than most. Professional implies paid job.

The lead artist on a couple of games I worked on ten years or so ago used to be a test driver for Ford in the UK. He said it was nowhere near as interesting as it sounds.

For the Need for Speed: Shift games they sponsored a professional racing team and the drivers would come in and give suggestions on how to make the game more realistic.
