it seems to be so. http://www.msn.com/messenger as well as www.mess.be also seem to be down. Could it be another DOS attack on Microshaft and Microshaft related sites?

Microsoft's website is up so who knows.

hotmail is also up...and it's too late in the month for us to be having DNS errors. I'd assume they, for some reason, shut their sites down or they were DOSed by some anti-microslave person/persons...

at around 9 toronto time everyone just went offline...but the strange thing is im still online so i dont know

No you can't do it in trillian either. It logs you in then just logs you out again.

here's what www.mess.be had to say about it

Many of you have noticed the MSN Messenger service stopped for more than four hours (some report even 6) early this morning (CET). Unable to sign in, lots of people were looking for more info on the status page of messenger.msn.com and Mess.be which both went down too at the same moment.

An official of MS Korea said that the service was halted due to a problem in the US-based network, avoiding all speculations that it was caused by attacks from MyDoom.c or DoomJuice infected systems. I'm still investigating why Mess.be went down together with the titanic, but let's blame it on mass hysteria for now

My guess would be the millions of spam emails being sent overloaded MSN, causing a shutdown.
