Is my G25 shifter console broken?

Today, I finally got my Logitech G25. I hooked it all up and plugged it into my PS3 and started Gran Turismo. The wheel works fine, and so do the pedals. Well, the gas pedal and brake pedal. The paddle shifters don't work, neither does do directional buttons on the shifter console or the shifter at all. I've tried everything. I looked at the settings and set it at DFP and nothing. I've turned on my PS3 with it hooked up and nothing.

Is my shifter broken?

Do you get lights on the shifter unit?
Have you tried the shifter as a shifter in H and sequential mode?

The lights do light up. Both.

That means you have it in sequential mode. If you rotate the switch (pushing down on the gearstick) does the left-hand light go out? I guess it does, but the point is do other buttons start working then?

I don't suppose you have a PC lying around do you? Install Logitech Profiler, plug the wheel into power and USB, and you'll soon see if it functions properly.... Profiler shows you which button you are pressing, from a graphical representation of the G25.

Once the software is installed in the PC, what do I do? It just installed like a regular software driver and I do not have any Car racing PC software game to test the wheel. Can I perform any wheel diagnostics or anything similar?

Are you playing prologue ?
If do, the paddles don't work in GT5p but they do in the time trial challenge. but I don't know what's going on with the rest.

Once Profiler is installed, you will see a new icon in your PC tray (near the time, bottom right). Click on it, you should then see a picture of the wheel. Each button you press should show up on that picture (i.e. press button 1 and a little blue arrow appears pointing to it and confirming that it's button 1). Same applies to the pedals and steering. It's a very easy and graphical way to test full wheel functionality.

Okay, now I really think my shifter AND clutch is broken. I downloaded the rFactor trial and connected the G25 to my laptop. I went on to settings and selected the settings for the G25. Whenever I pressed the break pedal, gas pedal, or turned the wheel it showed me how much pressure I was applying on a picture with a wheel/clutch/break/gas pedal. Whenever I pressed down on the clutch, nothing appeared on the picture/graph/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. I went on a race to see if it worked, and it didn't.

I just started rFactor: My clutch axis is "Joy1 S1-" and it does indeed move that red bar up and down when I press the pedal, just like the other pedals.

Sounds bad, yeah.
