We don't know if Rome will be in GT7, but that logo is referring to the FIA GTC trophy, so that is probably Sport Mode (separate from the Multiplayer lobbies, which is the green 3 people icon). The Colosseum is representing a gladiatorial arena for the competitors.

I agree with most of the article's icon explanations, but the purple round icon is probably going to be Special Event/Missions/Coffee Break.

Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Technically it wouldn't be an Easter egg anyway. The latter's typically a hidden message or novelty "feature" that's unlocked by a specific, undocumented set of actions.
