Is the Logitech Driving Force Pro belt driven or gear driven?

I think the wheel is gear driven, I am not sure entirely, I had seen an article on IGN where they visited Logitechs R&D Department and it showed and exposed wheel mechanics...

vinvingoh,

If I'm not mistaken, it is gear driven. Most of Logitech wheels (if not all) are gear driven. This is the main reason Logitech wheels are quite noisy. :) Thrustmaster makes some belt driven wheels, and some of them are pretty quiet.

thanks ZEE & PowerK!

coz i own the GT Force Pro and am very happy with it.
the only minor complain is its notchiness.
so as i suspect, it IS gear driven. : D

i heard the Logitech Momo Force is belt driven? is it true?
does it feel much more fluid (than GT Force Pro)?

has anyone driven the new coin-op Outrun2 by Sega?
i really liked the smooth wheel turning of it, altho it hasnt got any force feedback.

the driving force pro IS gear driven. have seen some expanded diagrams and photos of its internals and from what i remember at the end of teh stearing shaft there is a very large white gear which hooks onto a smaller gear attached to a silver 540-style motor.
its also quite noisey too which indicates a gear mechanism

This is the Momo force im referring to:

http://www6.tomshardware.com/consumer/20020524/wheel-10.html

There are pictures of the Momo Force, including its internals (2nd link). altho i see a big motor inside i dont see any visible gears as in the pics showing the GT Force Pro's internals.

I read someone's post in this forum saying the Momo is belt driven. But i also read some who says its gear driven.

I tried googling the topic but all i got are posts back in this forum LOL! so if anyone can clear this mystery for me i' really appreciate :)

Btw is gear or belt the better one and why?
Also if a manufacturer doesnt make it belt driven is it because its more expensive?

Belt driven is better as it feels more realistic and does not feel like turning from notch to notch
And yes, belt driven is more expensive
as to whether the momo is belt driven im not shure,iv also read here abouts that it is belt driven, and then i found a post with someone saying its gear driven.
