Is the PFGT the ultimate GT4 car?

Is there a car better than the formula GT around the track in game? Is there any car that can beat a fully tuned formula GT?

I tried placing my PFGT against prototype race cars and it just creamed them... is this true with real cars as well? How do people drive these monsters?

Eric, I think you mean Toyota Minolta :P

The F1 car is faster than the FGT but is harder to control IMO. In the end it all comes down to the driver's opinion and which car they are more comfortable with. Also, what do you mean by fully tuned? The FGT car can't be modified.

I mean the suspension and transmission.

Let me find the Minolta...

Toyota 88C-V maybe?
and Isn't the F1 car, a FGT?.

To me it all depends on who is driving and what race you are doing, example being that an Audi R8 and the Mazda 787B and Chap 2J can beat an FGT in the championship races because the FGT pits A LOT more than you have to in either of these. Plus the AI can't drive the FGT. :)

I posted a lot of laps at Deep Forest (forward) in different cars and I found that the the PFGT car the fastest under default settings with the asm and tcs turned off. The PFGT was able to run laps below 55 secs. Meanwhile, only a few of the GTPs could get below the 1:00 min mark with my capabilities. The Toyota 88C-V seemed to be next fastest as I was able to run a lap in the 58 seconds zone.

Well I was wondering in terms of pure performance... looks like the PFGT is the fastest around a track.

Noonen... where in Philly are you located? I'm in South Philly!

Do you happen to have a Nissan Minolta Race Car?

Toyota Minolta 88C-V Race Car.

There is no F1 car in GT4.

Be worth having the two of you check your advice before posting it.

The point of F1 cars is to be faster around a track than anything but another F1 car. The Polyphony Formula GT isn't an F1 car, but it's inspired by the 2004 F1 cars - and you'll notice that in the real world, 2004's F1 cars are faster on the same track than any other.

However, the PFGT is running at absolutely its maximum state of tune - it cannot be upgraded in any way, though you can tinker with its settings - and it can be eclipsed by other cars so that, in certain circumstances, it may not be the fastest one can go. Around the Test Course and the Motegi Super Speedway it can be bettered by at least the Toyota Minolta 88C-V, to say nothing of the Las Vegas drag strip.

On top of that, it has a very limited suspension travel and ground clearance. So when the track gets a bit bumpy its laptimes can start to suffer. This means that it's probably not the fastest way round the Nuerburgring either - the current known lap record for GT4 is also held by a Toyota Minolta 88C-V.

Yes, the FGT is the fastest car on basically any track with "real" corners. It doesn't work well at all at Nurburgring, but nevertheless, the same driver who currently owns the lap record in the 88C-V drove a time close to a second faster in the FGT, although the lap was slightly dirty in one spot (on a straight!). That said, even he called the combination of car and track "ridiculous" because of its sheer unpredictability. He also drove both laps in Arcade Mode with maximum power and minimum weight; I'm not sure how the two would compare to each other at the same track with maximum tuning in GT Mode.

F1 racing began in 1950. Since then, Indy cars, CanAm and other "prototype" sports cars have often been both faster and quicker. This is in no way meant to contradict the idea that the point of F1 is to be the quickest, just that the "formulae" at times favors other designs.

Famine was talking about the F1 in comparison the other cars in GT4, not real-life.

Your question was a fail like Sarah Palin in a test on fossils. "Uh...they're in the ground dead because they couldn't get onto Noah's Ark in time."

The same thing applies really. An F1 car is meant to be the quickest way around any track. Sometimes either the regulations or the tracks means that's not the case - but generally an F1 car is the quickest way to do it, except when it isn't
