I just want to know what people thing about this. Do people feel faster doing a hot lap with no pressure. Or doing a fast lap after doing laps in a race (when given space).

Some times the car seems to handle better during qualifying than in the race. I usually only do 2 laps to qualify, then a few races in which I go faster than my quali time. Then I do one quali lap in between and immediately break my best lap so far which is a lot harder to reach while in the race.
Perhaps you race on an empty tank in qualifying, the car definitely seems to handle better. I'm so used to the difference now I automatically adjust my braking points for race and qualifying. Not to be more careful during the race, just cause my braking points during qualifying will put the car wide during the race. It's only a slight difference, but it's there.
Senna at Monaco 1988 for example?I've seen races lost bc the leader had a large gap, but tried to keep a very fast pace and crashed.

Same here, I'm only 15 but it does fit in as he had a 1-minute-plus lead and then locked up going into the corner before the Tunnel. That along with Prost's failing spark plug denied the McLaren MP4/4 its perfect win ratio for that season. Before I was born. I was referring to daily races in GTS
