Is there a difference between the original DFGT and the new DFGT?

I have almost convinced my dad to get me a Logitech Driving Force GT, but the I'm hopefully getting is he PS2, PS3, and PC one that came out in '07-'08.
What is the difference in GT support between the one that came out in '04 and now?
And what is the steering display in GT4 and what does it have to do with having a USB wheel?

There wasn't an "original" DFGT. The one that came out in 2007 is the DFGT...

I believe you are confusing the models. There was a Driving Force PRO, released with Gran Turismo 4. The Driving Force GT is this generation's model, fully compatible with Gran Turismo 5.

And from what I can tell is that the only real difference is the controlls on the bottom of the wheel that let you adjust brake bias and whatnot in real time. Other than that they seem the same.

edit: Just so you know my buddy had a dfp and I own a dfgt, so my experience using the dfp is actually limited compared to the dfgt.

There were two versions of the DFP, but as far as I know there have never been any changes made to the DFGT since it came out.

And from what I can tell is that the only real difference is the controlls on the bottom of the wheel that let you adjust brake bias and whatnot in real time. Other than that they seem the same.

There are a bunch of minor differences. The DFGT is physically larger, and it has a slightly better shape. The DFGT also has a somewhat more "precise" feel to it, with smoother FFB motion and less deadzone.
On the other hand, the DFP has a slightly stronger FFB motion, and it also has a hard lock built in that the DFGT unfortunately doesn't have.

See I didn't know that because I rarely used my buddies dfp. When we raced together I was always suck using a ds2. So basically my comparison is based off what I remember. I do remember the one time I used it I struggled, but I also struggled for about a week after I got my dfgt a month ago too.
