Is there a replacement for displacement?

a little thing i decided to do to see what was faster :D,if a car with a high displacement would be faster than rivaling forced induction cars :D
3 test will be done on SM tyres
1/4mile
a lap of tsukuba
and a lap of fuji 80's
first up a turbo car
a 2002 Impreza WRX STi tuned to 524BHP

first up the 1/4mile
this is where the 4WD and high power of the impreza really shows and on its run managed to clock a 11.690 @124mph
great start and surely a time to beat
now to tsukuba and for all the laps they are started from a 50mph rolling start so no one car as an advantage over another, got to the first corner and remembered the car was still on the drift set up:dunce: :scared: ,car felt almost scary trying to drive flat out around this tight and twisty track but out of the hairpins and down the straights the turbo power really showed and also the engine felt really responsive and no sign of any lag and came out with a lap time of 1:02.054
now for fuji
again 50mph rolling start,i really thought this is where the impreza really would shine but for some reason the car felt really nervious round the long cars maybe from my set up but it just didnt feel like it didnt want to go flat out round them but came with a lap time of 1:31.156

next up the supercharged car :D Ford Mustang Cobra R with 537bhp
img00790ov.jpg

on the quater mile the car felt really well powered and good traction but was shocked when it only came up with a 12.908
now for tsukuba, around the track this car was fantasic fun although i used 3rd gear for the hairpins instead of second to keep traction, again it felt like a smoother power delivery and dare i say felt quicker than the sti but only came up with a lap time of 1:03.713
on fuji again it felt faster than the impreza and around the corners felt more stable and didnt understeer as much, short shifted on the low speed corners from 2nd to 3rd due to wheelspin but again it was slowly than the impreza with a laptime of 1:33.263

now for the displacement car and there is only one....the Dodge Viper SRT-10 :D totally standard with 525bhp
img00806zx.jpg

on the 1/4mile it just seem to grip and go no wheelspin at all and a good solid time of 11.923
around tsukuba for such a heavy car the viper felt great, some understeer in the slow corners but apart from that it handled really well and the engine felt strong and got a lap time of 1:01.872
on fuji again the car felt strong with lots of power showing down the straights, not as much understeer as there was a tsukuba just a little in the long high speed corners and come back with a laptime of 1:29.944

so summery is there a replacement for displacement,in these test it doesnt seem like, but of the 3 my pick would be the the mustang as it felt the strongest and best car out of the 3.

Interesting write up holdenhsvgtsr, Would have been more conclusive if the test was done using just one model perhaps..

Im not sure if there is a car that you can apply all three modifications to though?

thats what i orignally intented to do but could only find a cars that you could fit a turbo and na or supercharger and na but not all 3 :(

Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex, all 3 mods, but it`s not that strong!I think that Corolla can do that,it is the same car tough i did not tried!

Its all irrelevant and it all depends on the aim. Plus you left the viper stock. It was built to be that way. The mustang and impreza arent stock and wernt built to necessarilly handle all that power.

You should have done the test with stock cars for each one of the different aspirations.

not really
but it was to see if modifying standard turbo and supercharged cars would make them better than a standard high displacment car

The whole test is invalid. It all comes back down to the chassis, and each of the cars you chose had a different engine style aswell. A 4-pot, V8 and a V10:odd:

how does it make it invaild thats like saying well the 147gta shouldnt be a hot hatch like a focus RS

fair enough in your eyes it might not be valid but to me it is,due to the fact its showing the difference between cars with similer powers but from which they get there power from different ways
