Is there no ABS?

I have one of the original PSP's and the X and square buttons are on and off, is the PSP 3000 different? Because the brakes keep locking up.

The PSP does not have pressure sensitive buttons like the PS2 and PS3. So in a way its like gt1 (lots of button tapping to compensate).

That was only a problem on the 1000, I think. It had something to do with the daughterboard placement for the face buttons.

Are you totaly sure, because I could swear I can adjust break pressure and acceleration when I press my PSP button. Must be crazy.

Inputwise all PSP models are completely identical - they HAVE to be in order to not split the userbase. But be happy that it feels that way ;)

I think the game helps a bit, regardless of aids, just like in GT5P with the Sixaxis/DS3.

I'm getting lots of smoke under braking so I assume ABS is always off in this game? The understeer is not as severe as ABS off in GT5P though, so I think the effect is watered down a bit (thank god for that).

I love it ..BACK to the OLD GT2 wayz with Power braking ..For reals who has abs in there race anyways.Abs is for NOOBs and fords

:yuck: You make my brain hurt.

Formula 1 did in the 90's. Are formula 1 drivers "noobs"? I think not.

Race cars without ABS generally have progressive brake application provided via a pedal linked to a hydraulic system, as opposed to a digital off/on momentary switch.

All aside though I think I do like how GTPSP treats the handling for cars. Being able to pitch a car sideways under braking then rocket through a corner cockeyed is always stylish.

GT2 has ABS, you can NEVER lock your tires in GT2. In fact, ABS off is only introduced in GT5P, and that is as a patch (v1.1 IIRC). And for the record, driving with ABS does not instantly make you a noob. Sure ABS makes braking much easier, but it doesn't mean ABS < ABS off. And like CirclesCenter said, we don't have analog controls on PSP, so ABS is necessary if you don't want to spear off into the grass/wall in every turn.

I'm beginning to like driving without ABS though. The smokes under braking make the replays much livelier.

GT5P does nothing for DS3 users apart from steering smoothing.
I think it smooths throttle and brakes as well. How much I think varies on whether you use the buttons, triggers or thumbstick for gas/brakes. I noticed the effect when going back from wheel to controller (since there is no smoothing/assisting when using a wheel at all).

GTPSP doesn't though, as the controls for gas/brakes are just digital. It just goes from 0 to 100% and from 100 to 0, so you have to tap repeatedly to keep it at the proper level.

So far, I'm not missing ABS, it's just something to get used to. I think I'll leave it off for GT5P and GT5 too. I just wish GTPSP had a brake balance controller in the tuning options (and gears :)).
