I was recently browsing a friend's Facebook page looking at the photos from her cruise around the Med, when I came across these photos and I'm sure I recognise the scenery!

So, is that the same location as the track? She's marked it as 'Capri' if that's any help...

Probably is the location.
Somewhere on the forum is a google map location of the track on the island Capri

Costa di Amalfi is a fictitious track with sections of real locations. The front straight is the marina from Capri, so yes, what you see is in the game. The actual course does not exist, though.

I've uploaded some photos to the members photos area from when I went to Capri if anyone's interested. The track definitely doesn't exist exactly as in the game but there are some parts I recognised which I took pictures of.

If it was Costa then wheres the Bread Van?:P

It's there, just too fast for the camera to capture. :sly::dopey:

The seafront looks almost exactly like our Capri, but I bet the roads behind it are completely different.

Capri is much, much wider in real life, compared to the Gran Turismo version of the island where you go from one end of the island to the other very quickly. Have a look at the island on Google Maps or Earth to see what i mean.

Sorry for bumping this old thread and i dont know if anyone of you is intested or not.
I knew that Costa di Amalfi is based up on a real location (like Citta di Aria is Assisi in the real world) but i havent found Amalfi so far in Google Earth, so i searched in the net and found this thread and the GTP gameguide, but theres something wrong.

Costa di Amalfi is located on Capri, yes, but the town Amalfi is on mainland Italy, not on the island. The town where the track is located is called "Marina Grande" and you can actually see on which streets PD orientated themself for the track in Google Earth (not 100% though).

Correct.

Here's the map that the "course" is based off of if anyone can't find it.

You mean they grabbed those roads and twisted them into the actual course? Cause the way the red line draws it, it doesn't seem the track at all. Only the two tight hairpins next to each other resemble the ingame track.

^Pretty much, yes. Just straighten the roads a bit and smooth the course on the east side and add a few hairpins on the west and you get Amalfi. And the red line is pretty accurate from the switchbacks up to the third hairpin.
