Is this normal on the PAL servers?

not gonna happen
i've been considering getting the PAL version since all you guys talk about how much busier and better the racing is. so with this latest update, and finally a pro level international race, i'm kind of getting a little preview. and i gotta know, is this what it's usually like?

over the past couple days i've run race after race. 2 have actually finished without the host quitting. i'm assuming it's 'cause i was "too far" ahead, (ok, last race it was seconds after i passed the leader in lap 4. i passed, he quit)...i'm running 1:45's at fuji, it's really not that fast. i've seen cats running 42's and 41's. is this how it normally is on PAL? do y'all constantly find yourselves getting cut off for getting ahead when you just enter random races? is this normal???

no sir, the fuji event is a very poor example. suzu 750 has been nonstop brilliant races with full grids and top quality driving. i dont know why the fuji event is that way, but it is definitely not a good example of what youll typically find on pal.

With Event 3 now posted, alot of the racing is at 750 Suzuka. Fuji WE isnt done justice due to 90% racing suzuka.

I run the same pace as you... up for some races there maybe? :) I'll be home from work soon... Its also a good idea to check when the GTP times are and race at those times... just entering random races you will get a lot of noobs and punters...

thanks for the feedback, guys! I've been runnin on the TunersPit practice schedule hopin to hook up with anybody else runnin for tomorrow night, and it's just gotten crazy 'cause every race just about is getting canned. my buddy tomo told me in japan it's currently popular to be "anti-team" and go after drivers running team/clan tags, so i wondered if maybe the "thing to do" was to quit out ;) i didn't think any of y'all here would do such a thing, but you know how the masses are!!

i got to go to work soon, blitz, or hell yea i'd be up for some ;)

and if anyone's interested in some good racin (once some of the boys get on to practice, that is) the TPRA practice schedule is :23 and :52 after the hour...or maybe :22 and :53? i think it's the first..i'm a wee bit dyslexic so i might be reading the last numbers backwards.

Cool man, I'll keep an eye out for them.. 👍 If you got time in the weekend hit me up man... Im always down for some races and us being about the same pace should make for some good ones :D

Once more NA folks get on that sked, the 'host' is more likely to be 'one of us' as well. That'll help with dumping of the whole race.

It hasn't happened to me that often but I drive on suzuka 750PP far more than fuji. Lag is certainly the bigger problem compared to hosts quitting the race. However once you find a good host, like tizzla above, who has a great connection, the racing is fine. No lag, no problems, lots of fun. Its really just the luck of the draw.

Yea its great for us, but its laggy for other countries

They need to have dedicated servers for the races, when a far away country hosts races for us its a joke :grumpy:

I bought PAL version, because they always have fun races! Like one make racing no tuning and R1 tires only! All the races they setup are a blast!

I just got my PAL version, and will be online with it soon. I am so looking forward to it, mostly because with NTSC, I am usually racing 3 or less drivers in the races I like.
Furthermore, I usually end the race as the only driver left (especially 10 lap races). I suppose the good news is that my Internet connection almost always assures I am the host.

I'll even pull over, take a phone call (unfortunately unavoidable sometimes - I run a home based computer business), and then rejoin the race (if it hasn't ended).
I think (hope) I'm part of a majority when I say that I'm more interested in consistently improving my driving abilities, rather than finishing first, or quitting because I blew the first turn.
Add to that, I'm sure everyone (GTP drivers anyway) knows the feeling you get after coming back to place well following a bad lap, turn etc.
It feel sooo good.

That being said, If GTP_Hydro is at the top of your list (host) you are guaranteed a full race. And hopefully a competitve one.

Tuna,
Hurry up and get that PAL copy. I've had mine for months. The racing is great. (most of the time) and the races have more participants.

It works great really. I race the guys across the pond when its peak racing hours for them, then switch out copies when its peak racing hours for us.

Let me know when you get it!!

Can you run a PAL version of the game on PS3 in the US?

I had some PAL movies from Europe on DVD and my PS3 didn't want to read them.

From my understanding PS3 games are not region locked (i have JPN verison as well as my pal aus version) but blu ray movies are region locked. I've never tried a blu ray not bought here in Aus so i'm not 100% on this. Maybe someone else can give you a definitive answer. 👍

what he said. blurays are region locked, games are not. i'll probably use my STVM_EuroRyder account to d/l the PAL version from the UK PSN store (that'll do it, correct? or do i have to buy a disc version?)...oh crap, as long as the UK store will take my US credit card that is ;)

It won't, the UK store or any other store ( apart from the US ) won't accept your US credit card. You have to use a card that is registered in the country of the store you are trying to use.

You need an HDTV or monitor, standard definition is different between the two regions and will not work. For HDTV, it's the same.
