Issues Loading Red Bull Special Challenge, Game, etc

Did a quick search online and found that some people were reporting issues with loading certain sections of the game (initial start up, failing to load car in the garage, certain races) after the 1.05 patch.

I've been having similar issues, usually whenever I want to play the game will freeze before the opening movie at least once whenever I'm trying to. I hit A-Spec level 30, and can't load the S. Vettel Red Bull Challenge Special series. Certain cars in my garage won't load, and then the in-game music will cut out and the game will freeze up; all of which usually require a hard reboot.

I had a 2nd gen 120GB and the game never gave me issues at all. My house was struck by lightning and the majority of my electronics got fried (PS3 being one of those), and my GT5 disc was in the console at the time. I replaced my 120GB with a 320GB Slim/InFamous2 bundle console and I've had the freezing issues ever since.

I've debated backing up my data, wiping the data on my console and trying again to see if it still does it, but from what I've read it's either the disc drive starting to crap itself out or the disc itself. Would a lightning strike have the potential to damage the disc to cause these issues, or is there something else I should be looking at?

tl;dr: My game is freezing and I can't seem to figure out why. What do?

have you tried another game in your PS3 and if you are having trouble with that game then you know it is your PS3 and if your not having trouble with that game then you know it your GT5 disc and of course a lightning strike could cause a lot of problems.

I haven't had a chance to try a different disc mainly because I don't have any friends with a copy... but I guess I'll pick up a used copy tomorrow and see if that fixes anything. I wasn't sure if anyone else had dealt with similar issues that I am and knew exactly what was going on, but it didn't hurt to ask.

Hey Kimbro,

I've had a similar issue when loading races. I haven't even been struck by lightning!!!

I have a super slim PS3 (My original 60GB suffered the YLOD) and I occasionally have to use the PS button to force shut down the system. Even then that doesnt always work!

Hope you find a solution. If you do... Let me know.

Good luck, dude!
