The new rabbit is back

http://thechronicleherald.ca/Business/512922.html
Prices for the ’07 Jetta will begin at $17,105, including freight, down from $18,515 for the 2006

To that end, VW is introducing the 2006 Rabbit this summer, with a starting price of $15,000 US and a name that means something to baby boomers. It’s the name Volkswagen used in the 1980s on the entry-level vehicle that replaced the Beetle.

The newest Rabbit will come in two- and four-door models, with pricing starting at $14,990 (plus freight) for the two-door version.

Saw the comercial onthe TV, just wating for it again so I can record it...

And most important of all:

Under the hood is a 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine rated at 150 horsepower.

Allready posted in the VW Rabbit/Golf News thread, but thats allright.

I saw the commercial last night when I was watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, and what a great commercial it was!

I was surprised that VW keeps saying that the Rabbit will start at $14,990. But hey, if they are going to sell it that cheap, you know they will sell them.

It doesn't have as much power as we would like (although it puts down about the same as the origional 1.8T), and it is a bit thirsty as well. But of course, the Golf and the Jetta weigh more now, so that may have had an effect.

BTW: The Rabbit can be built HERE, but they also have a fun microsite devoted to the Rabbit off the front page as well...

EDIT: The Microsite can be found HERE

:banghead:
I dont look in the V-dub news section. I only look in the "auto news" for any general new related to the auto motive world. I did see it so I posted it.

Lock or delete if you wish...

Why was the 2.5 i-5 getting so much heat from VW fans? Anyone care to explain?

It isn't the greatest engine out there, what with it only mustering 150 naturally-aspirated horses from its 2.5L...also, the noise it makes is supposed to sound just slightly better than a worn-down, beat-up vacuum cleaner.
