Its not the game's fault (almost)

(this is not another moaning post..almost)

Yesterday we had (as some of you know) the Panorama night race in Fia cup.Cool, its a track I know well and I enjoy,so I decided to try and race there.Little did I know:second -cup- race of the week, second time someone (in this case it was 3 people) puts me from mid pack to dead last place due to their "clean" racing style (in SR S lobby). It happend the day before,it happend yesterday but this time I had no chance to recover.
I got apset, put the game away and just started to play some D2 trials in order to find some "competitive and fair" online gaming (and that alone says alot).
Anyway,I was bored so I decided to watch some iRacing guys race and get some sleep.Funny, because in 2 races I've watched, there was one guy that drove with the mentality of their GTS comrades ("clean" drivers) destroying the race of others. The chat during and after those races was hilarious but also it made me think a few things.
People like that, dont ever accept their mistakes (in case there is actually a mistake) or their intention to hit others or even their incompetent to race clean.
"I was faster","I had a better line"."you break too early","I did not expect him to be there" and the even more funnier "You should move out of my way" and other lines in the same manner to make excuses for putting people off track or hitting them. Its pretty much the mentality of every dirty driver in any game (no matter if its Forza public lobby,GTS FIA cup or iRacing official race).
Gran Turismo Sport cannot fix that.Period.No game can. There is no way to "code" clean racing. Its all about the people. On the other hand when the rating system puts those people in the highier safety/sportsmanship there is a problem but still: people can "work" around the system and gain their "clean" rating.
So moaning about those people or the game cannot and will not do anything. The only thing that PD (or any other developer) can do is this:add a report function and address those reports as fast as it can be done. That is the only way in order to create better and more clean races in competitive mode.Give the option to report said players and then punish them.
Every sport race should have full damage/Tire wear/fuel consumption too. These people do not deserve to finish the race after hitting every wall/car in every single corner/straight.
Do those "simple" things in Sports Mode and you'll have a 100% better game after a month or two.

It would certainly fix the worlds unemployment issues of some countries, Imagining how many 'stewards' would be required for the number incidents to investigate.
Removing race BGM might encourage people to pay more attention to their driving, but I expect a lot of people are racing while sat on the couch with the pets/kids/missus walking in front of the TV.
I' getting more tempted to iracing every day.

You can report people to Sony for several reasons. How many employees do they have committed to that job?Its something the game needs.Even if they would take months to investigate those reports.
Either that or keep getting people frustrated/powerless against dirty players.
The only reason for someone to keep playing GTS is the online part of the game.If that does not work then the game has nothing to offer compared to other titles in PS4.

Firstly, iRacing has damage, fuel consumption and tire wear, still as you confirm, they still have douches messing up there.

Secondly, off topic, had a pretty nice race at gr.4 Interlagos yesterday. Not a good result racing a MR car against the Scirocco and Megane, and a stupid yellow flag penalty, but a very polite race, people giving space to each other, no touching or bumping.

I think a way to help filter these idiots out of the main mixer with people wanting to fight fairly would be to have post race reports for people you raced with.

So for example, if you raced with someone for 1-2 laps and you won or lost the fight, if it was fair you could give them a rating and then select from a pre-populated list what describes them; aggressive, fair, dangerous etc etc...

It would take a few months but if the match making helped grouped those drivers closer together so that people who just wanted to bash into other people would be stuck with the same idiots, it would make Sport more enjoyable

iRacing also has a report fuction that actually works.
And still you cannot in any way argue that Sport mode will provide more clean racing than dirty.
I am in DR B/SR S btw.And people in that level are as dirty as they come.I dont know what is happening in other ratings lobbies (SR) but this is an issue that I've been talking since the BETA.Its not a new problem but they have done nothing to improve it.And its about time they start doing it.
You cannot "code" dirty players into "clean" but you can get more options to "spot" them and deal with those.

I'm thinking that what might look like a dirty driver in one moment of one race, may have been due to some other circumstance for a normally clean driver. How many races data/replays/internet packet loss (if thats even possible for them to determine) be looked at to determine a severe penalty for someone.
Reporting someone to Sony takes effort, so I expect only the really dirty drivers are getting reported. If the game implemented a report driver function within the game, then I expect it would get abused, unless they had to also append the saved replay, and PD had access to the users internet traffic quality during the race.
I expect it may make people try to drive better or give up online with weak/intermittent internet access, if they received a notice that x people reported them within 30 mins of each race.

I would rather PD spend any resource on cars/tracks though, and remove the ability to scrub off penalties, have penalties affect SR more. Clean drivers can climb back up the SR rating, dirty drivers will sink to the bottom and remain there.

I would like to see some of the footage of your races, if that's not being too forward. I'm DR-B, SR-A and I don't run into that many problems now, yeah the occasional idiot, but nothing that's ruined my race yet (touch wood)

Or the missus turning on full lights on, in the complete dark room where you are playing, in the middle of the last lap :banghead:

For a casual player like me, it would be a huge investment, my PC is enough for work but not even close to iRacing, and then the DLCs, is too much money. Most of the days only have time to a Sport Mode race.

I am an SR S from beta till now.In every two or three races there is always some people that keep putting others out of their way, fall back (since they cannot do one lap without getting off track) and repeat.
These people are as dirty as they can be.
I dont care/mind if people would report me in every single race (in case of report function being avaliable) because I am not a dirty driver and thus should not be punished for being one.
My iRacing example was not -only- to say that these people can be in any title but to mainly show the mentality of those:they race dirty with zero respect for others and in GTS they get rewarded by gaining DR (and keeping their SR since there is a way to "work" around the system).
In current state you can be an DR A/SR S -example- by actually driving dirty.Being fast and clean is skill.Being dirty and "top" dog is not.

I am going to create a huge video if you want (I've saved too many races with people like that) and post it if you want.Even though it would take time and there is no point (imo) since such a video will add nothing to the topic.Or do you think that in SR S there is no dirty drivers?

Noo that's not what I mean, if you have dirty drivers in GP2/3 and F1 you can have them in GT Sport! haha

But I think that having examples might help with developing specific solutions as racing, even virtual racing, is fairly nuanced

How about this ? :D
This is the reason I don't race there anymore, in Sport mode.
Nothing I did in this was intentional, I feel bad about the squeeze at 6m:30s but the rest of it was my car being crippled due to damage, not immediately realising and being rammed from behind at immense speed, not always their fault given the blind corners on the track, and then I get more damage.

Had over a minutes penalties here, I'd say I probably deserved 1, due to the squeeze, I didn't mean it but it was unfair, and the rest were bad luck, mainly. Everytime a car touched mine and went off (like the overtaking porsche, lol) or everytime I get hit hard I get 10 secs added, it was ridiculous.

I think none of it would of happened if the absolute [insert whatever] didn't ram me off at T1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I set the fastest lap later in the race too, at the back
