I need some help or advice on organising my album folders in iTunes. On compilation albums where there are many different artists how do I get them to merge on one album on my ipod? Its soooo annoying if you want to listen to a whole album and there is over 30 individual albums under the same name but with a different artist.

I went to the apple store and the best the manager could come up with was to rename ALL my compilation album artists to 'various artists' which would take aages and I think would be stupid as I would loose the artist details so it would be impossible to listen to a group of songs by a particular artist.

Also something else I found really annoying is that genres are separated if one is spelt in uppercase and one is spelt in lower. Its stupid!! My first experience with iTunes is it sucks hard! Is there anything i can do that will quickly organise my music and address these problems?...

Yeah, you'll pretty much have to go change the genre's yourself.

The reason that they all show up as I love Dubstep is because the Album Artist has been set to be the same as the artist. It'll be easier to go into iTunes by bringing up all the songs (vis search) then go in and delete anything in the Album Artist box (I recommended right-clicking the first song then choose get info, then delete it, then click next.)

I'm not sure if this would work, but give it a go. If you highlight multiple songs, you can right-click and click "Get Info." Then go to the Info tab and go to "Grouping" and put a name for your group of songs. See if that would group them together.

There's also a compilation button in the "Get Info" tab, but I'm not 100% sure how that works.

Thanks for the help

Ok I highlighted multiple songs using the shift key then clicke 'get info'. The 'part of a compilation' tickbox is under the options tab and its seemed to have worked :)

Just got to sort the genre issue out now....will that have to be done manually too or is there an option to disregard upper and lower cases...

To fix the genre, do the same thing as you did with compilation. You can highlight all the songs that you want the genre changed, then right click "get info", then under the options tab, check the little checkbox next to the Genre option, and type in whatever Genre you want. That will change all the songs to that genre.
