Should this be put on hold till the New Year? People dropping out and connection issues are both plenty!

As I had previously promised, I am here to inform you of my final decision regarding this series.

As those who participated before could clearly notice, I am having terrible connection issues when racing with you. These issues are certainly annoying and harmful to other racers, also proved before. With this in mind, I decided to QUIT my position and allow a reserve driver to take a full spot in the US Series. I will just stick to something else.

I apologize for anything, and I sincerely hope you can make the best out of this season, fellows.

Regards,

I'll park the GREEN safety car at the end of the pits behind the wall in Tuesday evenings race if you guys feel you need one for Madrid. I wouldnt expect to many multi car deals though with a 1:15 lap and just 15 cars racing.

Good Job you guys well done, this is one of the s1ckest series set ups I've seen on here. I would like 2 sign up, but ironically i think the UK time slot fits me schedule best. Either way I will send Knelly a FR. Do you guys know the PST conversion times for the UK series?, I have no school on Wednesdays.

I'm still planning on running the first race tomorrow night. Knelly, if you could host that would be great. I haven't had a chance to test host yet. Also, I would like to have a pace car. With a street circuit there is a high risk of multi car incidents.

On another more serious note about the race tomorrow. I will be reviewing the first lap of every race. Anyone who is barreling into turn one and taking people out will be penalized. These are long races. Remember this is going to be a clean professional race series so save the hard racing for later in the race.

Turn 1 at Madrid especially is going to be very tight so everyone please be smart.

Okay LV, Rich is gonna be your safety car, have an awesome race 👍

I'll sort out drop outs and sign ups on the OP when I get back from school.

Think you are 8 hours behind mate. Welcome aboard.

Thanks for this cautionary note. I was planning to set an intentionally slow qualifying time so that I would not be mid pack then let the chargers crash first lap and see where I came out after that. But that might put me mid pack on the restart. I'll wait to see where my times are relative to others in practice before I decide my qualifying strategy.

Nice strategy :sly:

Brilliant, will put you down for the UK, just need your car colour, team etc. :)

Just posted this in the NASCAR thread and figured I should post it here too, especially since our races start tonight and tomorrow:

"Also, a reminder to check your rear aero settings before you go out on track. A bug that 2.01 introduced means that if you change settings sheet at all, your rear aero will revert back to it's default value."

Was also unaware of that bug thank you. I wanted to point out in relation to first lap reviews, the "avoidable contact" rule will also be in effect during the entire race. If you punt someone and they want to file a formal protest to me it will be investigated.

If I get punted I will appoint someone, possibly Tom, Knelly or Joe to review the incident. The punishment for avoidable contact is No qualification attempt at the next event.

Also wanted to announce I will be holding a morning practice in my lounge in about an hour (2pmEST)

Decent idea there. PM me all the race info/results and they'll be up tomorrow, a 'Knelly-esque' race report would be pretty nice also for the thread :sly:

Also, can you share replays on GT5? I'm unsure.

I should be able to email you the replay, then you would have to put it on a USB drive and transfer to your ps3

Ah I see, so you can send the file to other people but it can only be viewed on GT5?

As long as the replay file isn't too large, you should be able to send the replay via email. If not, you could find a filesharing site and post the download link, which is what I did for a replay ages ago due to it being too large to email.

EDIT: Yeah, it's only viewable on GT5. I believe the replay files contain instructions for the game to use so that it can recreate the race exactly as it happened for whoever's replay it is.

Yeah I noticed that, it isn't actually a video file it's just a set of instructions, loads of little files, for the game's replay function. LV, send it to my MSN email if you need a second opinion on anything mate, it's on my profile 👍

It might be hard to decide on some incidents, due to not being able to change the camera view of replays. Sure you can pause the race and/or look closer in photomode, but it'd be easier if we could change through the normal race views.

I'll add my msn email to my profile too. 👍 (though send me a PM if you email me a replay etc, otherwise I might not notice)

Ready to go for tonight. Worked with my engineer for about an hour and got the car dialed in to my liking on hards and meds. Race strategist says we have 2 different strategy options which we will discuss further after the teams morning debrief

I'll come online in a couple of hours, to set my lounge up as best I can ready for the race later on.

If anybody needs to FR me, please do it before 23:00 GMT as I'll probably go to bed about then. You should all be able then to just enter my room, and LV 'should' be able to change appropriate settings etc. That is of course unless he decides to host in his own room following his morning practice.

If Tom and Joe are around in a couple of hours as well, we should try to all get in a room together. Doubt I'll be racing properly as tired after work and can't be bothered getting the seat out tonight.

OK Knelly, we'll test lounges etc. If I can get in we're all set.

EDIT: Let me know when you're online mate. Still not found the time to get my wired connection up, definitely be ready for the race tomorrow though.

I just thought of something regarding cautions. When you are in the accident and take damage can you pit right away or do you have to wait until after the wave-around on the 1st full lap after caution is called?

You need to be able to hear the safety car driver (me if you are in the UK series) I will call the pits closed and then open them once everyone is bunched up 👍
I am sure it will be the same for the US series.

Since we're currently all online on GTP, do you want to see if we can get in a room together now, Knelly and Tom?

Ok, Knelly's lounge it is. If I don't hear from Knelly in 15 mins or so I'll PM him to let him know.

Since the 3 of us are in the UK series, I'll set the room to Tokyo reverse.

Better wait till Knelly's the room host as well, so don't join just yet.

EDIT: And also I can't stay too long guys.
