I am starting to warm up to it
.. except that rear heat exchanger...


But I donot know how the people they are trying to reach out to will react to this... It definitely defies all expectations or standard... Cartoonish to be exact...

I guess a complete joke to most of us car enthusiasts...

Maybe it'll appeal to those my age(53+) that have fantasies(not me :lol:) of wearing their underwear on the outside of their pants and driving the streets at night. Just a wild guess. Seriously. Just a guess.

Jaguar Type 00 is a non-production vehicle.

So, this is really more just a design study-type vehicle then, to give us a glimpse as to where the brand is headed I take it. Interesting. Gonna guess Jaguar has a coupe vehicle in the works that will be toned down a lot more in design whilst still incorporating some of these styling ques.

It is a design study, but they also want it in production. Seeing it compared to the E-Type puts the design into an easier understanding, except the E-Type was ready to go at launch where as this is 2 years away. It's noted as having an unconventional design for an EV given its long, unnecessary bonnet & that it's not a very fluid shape through the air like most EVs are designed to be. Harry notes the Rolls Royce Spectre is a similar vehicle, but the EV fits it & it's a $300,000+ vehicle. This is reportedly only $120,000 which looks more approachable. It's interesting he notes that Jaguar realizes only 20% of its new car buyers will probably remain & this is marketed towards a new demographic. From how he describes it, Jaguar almost seems like its going after a fashion-industry approach by having bold designs under an exclusivity (as he notes Jaguar only wants to open stores in certain cities like Paris & London) of ownership. Jaguar also seems fine with this car launching 2 years from now in late 2026 as the stigma around EVs might change for their better, but it's hard to say. The brand is fully focused on the US according to Harry as he says the Asian market is dwindling for this type of vehicle.

The last thing he notes is that JLR is actually doing well globally, so Jaguar isn't "betting the house" on this.

Side view is fine. Top view is okay.
Front, rear and quarter views are awful.

What went wrong? Just a few years ago they created the Vision GT concept. As outlandish and unrealistic as that was, at least it had some style.

I think all our opinions are subjective. I can't stand the styling of the Vision GT that @eran0004 has just posted, for instance.
Doesn't mean either of us are wrong in our opinions, they're just different.

Thanks @CTznOfTime for posting that Harry Metcalfe vid. Now having seen it, I definitely like the car even more, even if at this point it's just a concept/styling exercise.

One last observation, the silhouette kind of reminds me of a Jenson Interceptor.
 
Looks like hot garbage. If Jag thinks the younger middle class eco conscious yuppies it's trying to attract are gonna pay over £100k for that, then they're in for a seriously rude awakening.

Nah, it is specifically meant for fully self driving car sharing.
They know no one would want to and be able to afford them individually. 🙄
 
If it genuinely looks remotely like that come production I’ll be impressed.

I like the idea of it, properly cartoonish, and really, we can nitpick details and areas, but there simply isn’t a car that looks like it on the market.

Again, if it actually looks somewhat like it once it enters production, I’ll be impressed.
 
There'll be an averagely striking concept car, ✅ followed in a year or so's time by a much watered down near-production concept, followed six months later by a pretty conventional production car.

In blue it actually looks quite nice in that video (from certain angles only). Not the interior though.

I think this was definitely true in the past with ICE cars (the transition from concept to production). But with some of these EV's nowadays, i feel some concepts have managed to make it into production without major changes to the overall initial aesthetics.
 
I'd love to see that shape in a dark metallic colour, like the new cherry red from Tesla. I think it would look so much better. Even matte black looks better IMO, I did a quick rough edit to see how it would look.

Man... to my eyes, this thing looks ameture. I genuinely thought this was bad, fake render last night, woke up and yeah this is is really what they're going with. And I can't get over the branding... it does things that just shouldn't be done in graphic design, but not in a way that cleverly subvert expectations but in ways that look childish. I think I fundamentally disagree with the premise, all good art is based on the foundations of the art that came before it. Copying is good, Jaguar.

I was expecting a tedious attempt at modernizing the E-Type, and they appear to have done exactly that by stretching and squashing an R35 GT-R until it more or less had a profile that matches.
I just had some clarity....

If you squint your eyes hard enough,
I see a lot of resemblance or interpretation from the XJ

I think I might be the only one here that likes the Miami Pink colour (I also like the London Blue), but it looks so good with your edit in matte Black.
 
I actually don't mind it...the shape is pretty interesting.


However, I don't feel any Jaguar in it. I don't remember a Jaguar without some amount of feline, feminine shape. This looks very masculine to me. Also the Greenheck storm-resistant louvers at the front and back gotta go. I appreciate that Jaguar has a long history of parts-bin cars, but raiding the building construction catalog is too bold.

As a Jaguar owner, i can tell you the 20% is wildly optimistic...
 
I can't get over how woke this thing looks. Woke lines, woke edges, woke curves, woke surfaces.
Honestly I don't think the design is woke at all....
What does woke design would even mean?

2 cents on it

1- The brand reveal really had done the buzz, of all pages of this thread, only like 3 is talking about the actual car instead of the branding, as someone that was observing from outside it was really a funny experience

2- from the brand reveal to car announcement, i think they are trying to be the car industry equivalent to those "for rich" luxury fashion brands like Prada, Dior, Louis Vuitton so on and on. while i think the cyberpunk style is a bit too much for this type of public, the reveal and annonciament really hits the nail with it, but is yet to seen if this public will get intrested on Jaguar (that is known already as luxury brand) as a type of car fashion brand
