Japan and USA playstation differences

My friend got me a playstation from japan its a pow playstation i think not the us version. Besides running a converter from 220 to 110 its pretty much the same. I was wondering if i can purchase stealth code cars and dl them or do i have to purchase chromeline cars. Thanks for the help. Oh and it only plays bluerays no dvds

I have a Japanese PS3 and I use it outside of Japan. Mine plays DVD but they come from the same region as Japan (China), Maybe there is a way to play other region DVDs, check the options.
I couldn't tell about the stealth cars because I ordered a Japanese copy although, like I said, I'm not in Japan but still was able to download them.

DLC is account-region locked not console, any console will run any region software.
Just get DLC for the region of game you own, if it's US, buy dlc from US store and it'll work, EU store for EU version of game and so on.

Just to reitterate, it's your psn account region that matters, not the console region.

Also, if it's a FAT ps3,. chances are it'll work directly without the power stepdown, my launch 60gb runs fine on 240v.

thanks so i guess ill be getting chromeline cars, and yes its the fat one but it wouldnt work without stepdown transformer.

The Playstation Store is Account locked, depending on the region of that account, and DLC will only work with the version of the game from that region.

I have an American PS3 (my UK one having died). I have UK, US and Japanese accounts (to gain access to the different stores). My game is the EU release. I did the Facebook thing to get the Chrome Line XJ13 for the EU version of the game and downloaded it.

For all my accounts, regardless of region, running my EU game will cause GT Life to have my EU Chrome Line XJ13 available when I first start the game. On the offchance I can get a Japanese version of GT5 I downloaded the three Chrome Line cars at Christmas. They do not work with the EU version of the game.
