Scotty. We've been through this before, bud. The prize car list is in the "Look Here Before You Ask" thread that is stickied (it says READ THIS) at the top of the GT3 board.

For what it's worth, I just started this series tonight. I'm using a stock Viper Team Oreca and T3 tires, and pitting once per race. In the first two races I've had a margin of victory of about 2 seconds, with good racing throughout. I hope the AI doesn't get the late-series boost, because I forgot to sandbag any power adders for later.

...but are overkill in a race against anything but other F1 cars. In followup to my post above, I was able to clinch the series in the Oreca Viper, though I couldn't sweep all the races. With fresh oil I should be able to go back and pick up the golds I missed.

It would also be very doable in one of the race-built NSXs, perhaps with NA1 tuning for later in the series after the oil goes bad.

Yes, the HP will drop as the car gets old, but not as badly as it does when the oil is dirty.

For instance, in the All-Japan Pro, I started with a brand new zero miles Viper Oreca. It had 618 hp stock, which is the pre-broken-in hp that prize cars have. In a purchased car it would have had a little less and worked its way up to 618.

About 1/2 way through the 3rd race, the oil light came on at 189 mi/300 km. From that point on the car steadily lost HP until ti bottomed out at 576 in the 7th race. After the 10th race the car had 550 miles on it. I changed the oil and the car came back up to 605 hp, which is the worn-down figure. Although this is less than the original number, it is more than 30 hp higher than it would have if I never changed the oil.

If you drive the F1s too much you will get used to driving them slow. Then when you get to the F1 series you may struggle. It is still a relatively easy series but I suggest driving cars close to the field in most races so you need to drive them near their limits.

Drop a hybrid power house in next time

Ummm, yes, but "as best it can" doesn't include "jacked up with fake horsepower like a Baywatch extra" in my book.

Besides, to almost anybody who can drive, excessive horsepower ruins the balance of a good chassis. Only point-and-shoot types really enjoy a 1000+ hp ballistic rocket. The rest of us prefer to cooperate with the car, rather than simply hop it up on amphetamines and then hang on for dear life.

And don't bother telling me I just can't drive. My Tommykaira ZZII at stock horsepower is an absolute pleasure to whip around the track; perfectly balanced, forgiving, and extremely quick. With 980 hp it becomes just another balky, understeering monster.

Not my idea of fun. If it is yours, well, to each his own.
