AFP - Japan could reimpose a ban on US beef lifted last month after a beef shipment may have violated rules aimed at preventing mad cow disease, Agriculture Minister Shoichi Nakagawa said.

I belive the ban was reinstated. Looks like someone from the exporting side got sloppy. Mistake that ended up affecting the whole beef industry in the U.S. They were making big $$$ in Japan too, I believe.
