Happy holidays to all again, and hello.

GT has been aboout three commercially-available cars that are the focal points. Among the most popular are the Toyota Supra, the Nissan Skyline, and the Honda NSX. If you know your JGTC, all three cars are in the JGTC, while the NSX is active in both GT500 and GT300. Which of these three is better? Are they equal? Are they different in characterstics, but equal in all other aspects? Let me see what I can recall about these three Japanese terrors...

THE TOYOTA SUPRA: BALANCED

The Supra is one of my personal favorites. I think even the GT500 and once-Le Mans running counterparts proved this car to be agile and powerful without leaning too much on either aspect. The car is possibly the most affordable of the three and when tuned or modified, almost any look or upgrade makes it better. This machine knows no limits, and I'm sure the Tom's Team in Japan were partying all night long in the Shibuya or Ginza districts of Tokyo, Japan when they finally beat the Skylines for the JGTC championship in 1997.

THE NISSAN SKYLINE: ALL POWER

The Skyline is very stylish for a car that weighs as much as a Camaro or a NASCAR stock car. It is a supercar available in rear-wheel drive, or more traditionally, 4-wheel-drive. Suprisingly, it has been in rally racing before (at least I think). The Skyline has also been to Le Mans, but too heavy to keep up (just like the Supra). The Skyline seems to be powerful, but doesn't let the excessive use of power subtract its handling capabilities. The JGTC Skylines have a considerable number of victories over the Supra. The racing variants look and perform greater than the street model, and at one time, they were 4WD until the JGTC required cars to be 2WD. Since they turned to front-rear, they still manage to perform as well as if it was still 4WD. It is then, no wonder why import enthusiasts love this car, even though not legal for America in Japanese trim.

THE HONDA/ACURA NSX: A UNIQUE SUPERCAR

The NSX is one of the few cars to have only one (and possibly two in the near future) cosmetic changes. Have you ever been next to one or seen one on the road? The NSX almost looks like a Japanese Ferrari with about as much power and handling to make the Italan supercar enthusiasts want to eat their words about negatively critizing it. This car also been to Le Mans, and the Kunimitsu (in Japanese, say it like "koo-nee-meet-soo") NSX won in class (GT2). The JGTC NSXes only continued the success of the more than 60 years of Japanese racing excellence of Honda. Until that "snorkel" was put on the 2003 variant of the Mugen/Dome ("doh-mei" in Japanese) looked pretty lovely. The NSX is still an agile car even since its 1991 introduction.

So which car is better, if you had the money to buy, tune, and maybe even race one of these Japanese beauties?

My choice would have to be the Nissan Skyline. Even though converted to RWD its still a very nice car that i would love to push around corners. While the Supra also one of the best performing machine out there, incredible car with a V8. It performs as good as the Skyline this car has not only beaten both Skyline and NSX multiple time but man the Supra is one of the best no doubt. The Honda NSX. Such an incredible car. With midengine it have a great balance. The NSX is such a great car and also won many times.

Supra of course i think win the most over all.
Skyline is one of my favorites and look the best IMO.
NSX.. nothing better than an MR... right?

Also.. one more thing. They have Vipers in the GT300 class dont they push out more power than 300 stock. I would think they would be in the 500 class.

I LOVE JGTC

So here they are in order...

Nissan Skyline
Honda NSX
Toyota Supra

Those are the order for the JGTC cars. Even in stock form straight out of the dealership its still in that order.

ok, just being a bit nit-picky, JGTC cars share minimal mechanical similarities to their showroom floor counterparts. JGTC cars a FAR from standard.
i would not associate Supra being well balanced. the motor in that thing is too heavy. and its a inline 6, not a V8 as stated by rollazn. the JGTC car on the other hand uses a 3sgte motor, a much smaller motor which provides better weight distribution for the racer.
well with all that ugliness out of the way i'll move on to my preferences.
1. NSX - it cant keep up with the big boys but it can out handle both the supra and the skyline on a circuit. plus it has a free revving non turbo engine, more linear power curve and better throttle response.
2. Supra - unbalanced weight distribution but driven by brute power. tough cast iron block engine, but difficult gear change. (the one i drove anyway)
3. skyline - i dont consider AWD as an advantage as much unless used in slippery conditions. very good engine but they do sound a bit strange IMO

i thought the JGTC supras ran a 3sgte (gt4) engine, an I4 turbo.

They probably did but recently they changed it to a V8.. how i know? I saw it on JGTC on speed every thrusday at 700 eastern time :D so FUN TO WATCH!

Guess what my number 1 is? IF you don't know by now you should be shot.

1. Skyline GTR
2. I'd have to go with the supra over the NSX sure the NSX is a great car but not as easily tuned as the supra. It would be much easier and cheaper to tune the supra.
3. NSX as I said it's a great car but I like the other 2 beter.

in race form...Skyline
in street form straight out of the dealer, I have 2 word for you: rb26dett and Atessa

followed by the supra and nsx. I don't know why, but there's something about the nsx that I just don't like at all...but that's just me.

my pick would have to be the nsx... why? like kikkoman stated, its got a free revving v6 na engine, MR design, its a killer track car, and IMHO its drop dead gorgeous :embarrassed:

1)nsx
2)supra
3)r34

a V8? is it the 1uzfe?:embarrassed:

NSX - MR handling is designed for racing.
R34 - 4WD is hard to beat.
Supra - I dunno, just me, looks like a turd on wheels. It is fast though (:

NUR... I dont mind just having a R34 VSpec II or R34 Vspec... R33 Vspec isnt all that bad either ill gladly take that up :D

okay I just figured it out i think. the new motor in the JGTC supra is a naturally aspirated V8 replacing the 4-cylinder turbo-charged 3S-GTE used last year 2002?. The 4.3-liter 3UZ-FE used for the Lexus and Soarer models has been bored to a capacity of 5.2 liters for the JGTC version. I dont know how much Hp and torque tho.
