I have tried many times and only got up to bronze, I googled for help, but all seem to be before abs could be turned to "0". So I'm after some current patch advice.

I draft, keep up and sometimes overtake, but as soon as I go to corner, I go from about 230mph(at peak) straight down to 180 and the competition flys off to Madagascar whilst I throw the controller across the room reluctantly pressing retry for the 6783rd time.

So I'm turning here for any advice or help, this is the only jeff Gordon event left for me to get gold on and I did all of the others gold without problem.

the way I done it was to draft 2nd to your close enough to first to get the draft then should be on the last bit to pass to get gold. You literally have to push 2nd to get to first. Although it could of changed since then.

I am pretty sure I seen a video about this on YouTube and followed its directions closely to beat it.. I'll take a look here in just a minute to see if I can locate it again.

Edit: whodo took care of you 👍

Funny, I finally went and golded all the Advanced NASCAR challenges yesterday. Before then I only had Bronze on all of them, but yesterday things seemed to click and I felt like they all of a sudden were much easier. It felt like I finally knew what I was doing.

I knew drafting was the key to finishing on the podium with them, but I guess I just wasn't following the best lines before yesterday. I even knew that the car positions were always the same, which makes things so much easier. It really just comes down to your racing line.

On the Daytona pit one, you ironically want to be behind the 4th car, not the 3rd (2nd/1st isn't possible going in to the first turn, but that's why you have 2 laps). When you start behind the 3rd car, the gap becomes too big because you can't really get a good draft from it since you start far behind it.

When you go in to turn 1 behind the 4th, even 5th car, you get really solid draft on the straight, hitting 230mph or so, and so going in to turn 3 you are able to catch up with the 3rd car. Once you do that, drafting and catching up with the leader is pretty easy.

The rolling start Daytona challenge is a bit trickier as you have much less margin for error when it comes to drafting.

As soon as you go green you need to go right to get the draft with the car in front. If you try and draft the inside line car, you won't be able to get far enough ahead. So stay on the outside and as you cross the start/finish, you should be overtaking the inside line car. As you come in to turn 1, again stay to the outside line, trying to keep the speed above 200mph. If you drop below say 194mph, restart as you didn't get enough draft and you won't have enough speed coming on to the straight.

Going in to turn 3, I liked to take the inside line but then kinda move back to the outside because again, the outside line cars are closer and so you catch their draft. You should overtake that line of cars coming in to turn 1. Take the inside line, as the outside line usually ends up with a collision.

Going in to turn 3, you should be overtaking 2nd, and by the time you come out of the final turn, you should be close enough to take first.

Indy is really easy. Drafting still comes in to play, but for the most part you just need to outbrake everyone and take the inside line for overtakes and draft when coming on the straights. If you need an exact guide on what to do, I'll type it up, but really it isn't nearly as bad as the Daytona ones.

I'm trying all of these, but even when I take the first corner perfectly, I'm still not taking the red one on the left till a bit after it, and even when my speed only drops to 202mph on the 2nd corner, they'll still be miles ahead by the time I'm on the straight, occasionally all goes well and I end up 4th at best, I have shifted abs from 1-10, back to 1 and everything in between, I've changed active steering and steering sensitivity which seems to be best with abs at 1 and active steering off.

Feeling like this event is my kryptonite, as I did all the others in gold without much problem :(

It helped me to use the RA menu to put brake balance at 0-0. That way when the forced on ABS/ASM kicks in it doesn't use as much braking power to slow you down. 👍

I'm convinced that the aides mentally slow people down more than literally. Don't think about them too much. I did fine with ABS at 1 (since it won't turn off annoyingly), default brake balance, etc. They programmed the challenge so that it is possible to gold with the the aides.

Exit speed matters quite a lot for turn 2. All I can say is make sure you keep up the draft in to turn 3. It sounds like you're coming pretty close to getting it down. Despite the relative ease I had yesterday when I golded these, I still had to retry a lot. I probably spent close to 45mins golding the 3 advanced challenges.

I wish I could help you out with these, but I did them way back in the very beginning and I'm sure some things may have changed since then. If I remember right though, there are a few threads around here dedicated just to these events. My good friend Tidgney may even have some videos on how to Gold these. I'll have a look and post you some links if I can find them.

Edit: Maybe this will help. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=212478&highlight=jeff+gordon+nascar

That's the best I could find for now. Tidgney didn't have any videos for this that I could find. Hope this helps you out.

Everyone here's got spot on advice, only thing I could add is to race dirty a bit don't be afraid to cut someone off and bump you up. Another thing is to try to not hit the rev limiter, it slows you down. I remember when I did it (a long time ago), I timed my exit so that the cars behind would bump me up, you have to time it though or else you'll side swipe or get clipped and spin.
