New guy here on the Forza forum and proud to exclaim, "I Joined The Dark Side"!!! Have enjoyed and played the GT series immensely BUT GT5 has run it's course. I am burnt out on nothing new over there, no cars, no dlc and I believe KAZ and crew have all but abandoned GT5 and "working" on the next installment, maybe in 5 or 6 years I might see it. Any way, I just ordered this setup, XBOX 360 250GB RACING BUNDLE just to play Forza alone. Got it for $299 shipped and can't wait for it to arrive. Take care my fellow Gear-Heads!!!

Welcome to the dark side, I guess. Always remember: The dark side has cookies.

Or, probably more appropriate for a racing game: Doughnuts.

Welcome to Forza Planet! Enjoy your new gear. Have you played any of the previous Forza games? I was a GT fanatic like you, but I played every installment of Forza as well. However FM4 really does stand out as the best complete driving game on any console. You will Love it!

I too have switched over to Forza 4 from GT5. Having played every Gran Turismo game in the series, and loving every one of them, GT5 was in my PS3 for about 7 months straight, before I even thought about playing a different game. But after completing most of the A-Spec races, and doing some seasonals and whatnot, it just became kinda of boring. Granted, the graphics were amazing on the cars that were premium, but graphics don't make a game for me.

I then played Forza 3 on my brother's xbox 360 awhile back, and although the visuals weren't quite as stunning, it still managed to hook me. Then I heard about Forza 4 coming out, and around Christmas time last year, I found a great deal on a 250gb Xbox slim, and Forza 4. Now, just as it was with GT5 and my PS3, Forza 4 has not left my xbox all year so far.

Overall, I'd say the Forza series is just way more fun, to put it simply. Every car has the same level of detail, the physics are awesome, the selection of car keeps growing by the month, the amount of customization and tuning is better than GT5, etc. I will say that I wish there were a couple track packs coming out or something, but I still love the game. Oh and the livery editor, that's a major plus as well.

All in all, it was well worth the purchase, I have not regretted it one bit, and I have definitely played my money's worth. You will have a blast!

This is my first XBOX but I am looking forward to playing it, I might back-track to earlier Forza games eventually, thanks guys!

i just made the switch to xbox a few weeks ago from a long time GT fan, having started with it back with first installment.

I like GTs physics and controller a bit better, I'm having real trouble getting used to the xbox one as there doesnt seem to be enough fine adjustment with the steering so I tend to saw at the wheel a lot. But as a game I think it stands above GT5 without question.

Like someone else said, the graphics just dont make the game for me. They spent too much time on crap like making sure the seatbelt button has perfect texture and the stupid B-spec stuff and not enough time on the actual racing part of the game.

I'll certainly give GT6 a try if it ever comes out, but liking Forza for now.

Now if I can just get this steering thing down I'll be really happy....

Same here, former GT player since '97, and had enough with polyphony digital.
They lost their eye on the ball and released an unfinished "driving simulator", which lacks good racing, exciting cars, and customization options and more or less fails as a game entirely.

+ Instead of listening to their fans, they keep on making the same flaws (engine sounds, lame AI, and that incredible bias towards nissans), and their DLC and communication is laughable.

Haven't regretted one bit making the switch a month ago, Forza has a better selection of cars, exciting racing with a more competent AI, is better structured as a game entirely and has customization options GT can only dream of + the engine sounds and cockpit views are great.

Welcome by the way :)

I myself have dual citizenship... I enjoy both games for their respective strengths. I've had a much easier time connecting with people in GT land, but it's really just become a social thing more than a game thing. The game itself leaves too many holes to fill and not enough options to go beyond "this your car, you drive, have much fun"...

Forza is a much more complete game experience.

It's more than just roundy round. It has it's quirks, the physics have their deficiencies, but they aren't as bad as GT faithful make them out to be.

I have much fun with liveries and the AH, dabble a bit on the storefront and drive when I can. I will say the CSR elite pedal set helps a ton... Before that it was a chintzy MadCatz wheel that was horrific. The key difference is in when the tires lose grip. In 4za land, it's a sudden loss and slide, not the gradual slipping away you're accustomed too. 4za also likes it when you don't brake and turn at the same time more so than GT. It actually will help you when (if) you go back...

I like the tracks in Forza better, they flow much more smoothly, though there needs to be more of them. Cars there are a plenty, but places to run them, not so much.

Concerning steering... I found adding a little extra dead zone in the center and cutting the top back to 90 and setting the steering to "normal" help "firm" up the wheel a little and kept me from see sawing all the time. At least it's not as bad as Shift 2, that game is horrible. I love the look of it, but it's enough back and forth to make you sea sick. It's worse with the CSR, so bad I can't play it at all.

If the driving isn't all that matters, you'll love Forza. There's so much more to do, and the cars are so much more relevant to the game. It's a much more complete game experience vs a strict roundy round let's go racin' boys affair.

And you will love the Rivals mode... It makes GTs seasonals look like a bottle of Mrs. Dash that's been left open on the counter for a year and a half.

Enjoy...!

Welcome, but there is no reason you can't enjoy both like me :D, Next you should consider getting a Fanatec wheel.

Welcome, you'll love Forza 4 btw.
$300 for 250gb x360, the game and the (crappy in my book as I'm not a fan) wireless wheel is a really good deal.

I was a convert as well. Started on GT3 (brother actually got it for his birthday, but I became interested in it haha) and purchased GT4 on day one. Bought a PS3 just for GT5, however watching the details unfold I decided to wait a month or so to buy it. Game wasn't too bad, however it didn't have the same...awesomeness that GT4 had (awful career mode, awful leveling system, awful B-spec mode, standard/premium car fiasco).

I then began looking on Youtube at videos of the car selection in Forza 3, and was sold on that alone (plus the fact that they were customizable and all approx. the same level of detail). Bought a used 360 and Forza 3 CE, had bunches of fun until FM4 came out. Bought the LCE and have bought every car pack since. Of course this spring my 360 crapped out so I bought a new 250gb 360, and have been enjoying FM4 since. I don't have a wheel to use, so I use the controller, which is way better for racing than the PS3 controller IMO.

Welcome to the forums and welcome to Forza. Glad to see another GT5 convert finally seeing GT5 for what it is, 30 copies of the same car with the sounds from a vacuum cleaner, I hope and know that you will Love the FM series.

I switched from GT5 for FM 4 about 6 months ago (waiting for the Fanatec CSR-E to be available).

Now I only check GT 5 for some new seasonal games once in awhile. Whenever I drive GT 5 i am simply bored. The driving experience is much more interesting in FM 4.

And do you yourself a favour and try a good wheel with FM 4. The combination of FM 4 and a CSR-E is a league of their own.

Judging by the lack of response from TurboProp, we can only assume he's getting on with FM4 famously :P

You'll enjoy it, Turbo - feel free to add me, I can send along a few cars if you'd like. For sheer driving, I enjoy FM4 far more than GT5 (though I do miss the proper 'Ring from the latter). The only area of GT5 I really miss when playing FM4 is it's massively better Photomode.

This is my first XBOX but I am looking forward to playing it, I might back-track to earlier Forza games eventually, thanks guys!
If you have Forza 4 you really dont need any of the other Forza games IMO. F4 is the best of all the Forzas all wrapped up into one nice package. :)

I grew up a GT fan with no interrest in the xbox. But after playing Forza 1 I was instantly hooked. The engine swaps, drivetrain swaps, vehicle customization, fully customizable vinyls, trade vinyls, trade tuning setups, and the ability to trade cars with others in the Auction House truly hooked me onto this series. Each game has got better and better. Unlike the GT series which seems to be going backwards especially with GT5. I still play both games and they both have their pros and cons. But IMO Forza has pulled way ahead of GT5. It helps that T10 truly listen to the community.

Welcome to the club, I still play GT5 but not nearly as much, I like the approach over here. Before I got forza, I got a look at how the do the cars and was immediately impressed, Turn 10 is doing a good job of staying in tune with it's base.

Ha-Ha!!! I'm actually tracking my XBOX Forza 4 bundle on the Fedex truck! It should arrive today!!! Hurray!!! :D LOL

Taken with a grain of salt substitute...

They do have their issues here in Forza land. Like the lack of track selection, lack of trim removal on some vehicles that renders them useless for any real street rod or racing conversions, the just awful look of the Cragar SS rims...

These are items they have "heard", and in my case have even censored out of my posts to avoid them being called to attention.

If GT should ever realize and get in tune with more than the Euro-Japanese racing formats, it will make for something interesting.

Should Forza improve the ability to customize, make a track creator or offer some other racing venues be they real or faux and allow trim to be removed, GT will have one heck of a hill to climb...

Either way, as gamers we can only hope they listen to more than just what we think they listen to and follow through on some of the more fundamental issues that have been staring them both in the face since day 1 that neither company has done diddly squat about... ;)

I think I'll be joining. After all these years playing Forza, I'm finally getting into online racing and it's beyond awesome!

All set up and downloading Launch Track Pack as I type...really amped up and ready to get into the the groove of F4! I have a lot to learn with this new system and game, I appreciate all the kind words and help here, seems like a "friendlier" lot over here...again, Thanks!!! Now, off to racing!!!

Good luck for the first couple of races 👍

Don't let yourself be fooled by the first "forced" race, though. It can seem a bit weird ;)

Anyways, jsut wanted to share this. It's a very good tuning guide which has been serving me well since... Well, since quite some time. Getting a proper tune for your cars will make the game more enjoyable and probably easier, too.

Good luck and have fun

Good luck with everything. Its a bit overwhelming at first. I would recommend doing some Private online races with friends in a against the AI. You can customize the races ANY way you want. Any AI difficulty, damage on or off, collisions on or off, and much more. This will give you a chance to get the feel of the maps and the cars. Plenty of friendly people here to help you in any way you want for an enjoyable experience.
