Might as well fire up a thread on here, seeing that this is a WIP.

About a year ago, I got tied of the constant fixing of my Opel Omega, and figured I wanted something newer, and more reliable. Money was tight, but after some browsing around, I found the car I really wanted. A E39 touring (granted, it is only a 520 IA, but I love the comfort and looks of it). I got a small loan from a bank, and whoopdedoo, I have a new car!

(the facelift headlights was not on the car when I bought it)

Now, this is a pre-facelift car, and with its flaws, I wanted to give it a more updated look. And it was like the heavens heard my plea, A customer at a BMW part store I know well, had a pair of facelift ones, that he wanted to get rid of, and suprisngly, GAVE them to me! 👍 He claimed there was a problem with the automatic light height adjustment, but I found the adjustment screw, and they worked like a charm.

Next up, I bought new taillights, since the old ones were cracked.

After this, I felt like the car was way to quiet. Yes I know this is a premium brand car with comfort in mind, but c'mon, I want to hear some grunt in it! I then contacted my friends at the BMW store, and ordered a Simota air filter with carbon housing. (This came over half a year after I ordered it  )

Next up, the car really felt like a boat to drive, and its WAAAY to tall, so I got some new springs for the front, but I was forced to keep the rear stock, since it has bags :ouch: Also, about this time, I also found out that the previous owner was so kind as to give me the summer wheels with tires that border to semi-slicks. Don't ask me why, he just did. I was astounded to find that I could outcorner my mates E30 and a 1-series on that basis alone. But, when a straight comes, I have nothing to boast with. 150HP and a autocrappic transmission limits my fun, along with an open diff.

As of now, I have ordered the M-tech bodykit for it, since it really lifts up the cars looks, and ordered new headers and sports-cat who can be transferred to any 6-cyl BMW engine of that time period.

Plans for 2013:
Fit the bodykit

Get the rest of the exhaust system. Eisenmann exhausts sounds so mean!

Repaint it. It looks decent as-is, but since I have to paint the bodykit anyways, I can get a total respray pretty much cheap.

Hopefully swap out engine and tranny to a 528i with a manual for a decent price 2nd-hand.

Get the rest of my soundsystem in order. I have already swapped out the head unit and the speakers in the doors, along with some subwoofers in the back, but I still need to fit the last ones in the ceiling and tweeters.

Fix the power issue. It de-charges over a small period of time. Must likely the battery or the dynamo, so easy fix.

I also want to get the trim inside the car a bit darker, getting rid of the wood since it looks fake and cracked some places.

What do you guys think?

A bit of an update on this.

I've gotten a quote on a manual gearbox with all the fittings and parts, and it was quite decent, so I'll most likely buy it next month.

I've also bought the Eisenmann rear muffler (2x83mm :D ), so the whole exhaust will come in 2 weeks time!

Gave the car a wash as well, as the salt on our winter roads really mucks up the car

New headers and cats in the house!

Im still waiting for the Eisenmann muffler (should come next week), and the m-tech kit (still uncertain on delivery date).

On another note, I have just swapped out the battery, since the old one had started to corrode quite a bit, and couldn't keep the charge over a week. Next up is to do a proper service on it, and then start scouting for a decent manual tranny

The M5 has supersprint x pipe and dinan axleback, ill post in the cars exhaust section. Those headers look nice 👍

Time to update this baby.

The M-Tech kit is halfway here, with the front end complete and ready for pickup, but the rear end is still in denmark..

The exhaust is now ON THE CAR! :D

Here's a little taste on how it sounds from inside the car on the road (had the window down a bit, to get the sound a bit better.) A better version will come when I get a GoPro that I can mount on the bumper.

The unfortunate thing is that now it stands without plates. The cops took them yesterday, right after the video above was taken, due to some insurance problem apparently :( so while Im resolving this, the car is parked..
