Written by Diablo Cody and directed by John Malkovic, I found Juno to be a very entertaining flick. Virtually unknown 20 year old actress Ellen Page plays the 16 year old Juno McGuff and the film follows the events following her unplanned pregnancy with her on/off boyfriend.

I'll expand on this later, but here's the basics

+ Razor-sharp dialogue.
+ A masterclass in acting. Ellen Page is brilliant.
+ It really feels complete. There's no loose end when it's over.
+ Family friendly
+ Morally sound decisions taken in it, but never feels preachy.

- You'll need to like the new wave of pseudo-folk pop to appreciate the soundtrack
- Some of the humour needs to be mulled over to fully understand it
- All things considered, not a great deal of stuff actually happens, which some would consider detrimental.

All in all, it's a genuinely heartwarming, clever film that the whole family can watch, although it's more "grown up" than most family films.

Dialogue 9/10
Action 6/10
Soundtrack 8/10
Entertainment value 9/10

Overall 8/10

An entertaining jaunt through a film with a genuinely innocent feel to it. It's so fresh and witty that I think it'll achieve classic status in the future.

Recommended.👍

An awesome movie I might say. Ellen Page is an amazing actor as well. If you like Ellen Page, check out Hard Candy. I was surprised with Ellen Page's Acting in that movie.

I loved it and though it was great! So many good one liners. lol

Kinda reminded me of a real life Daria.

I still haven't seen it, sadly. Jackie and I have been planning to for some time, but we always get busy with our schedules. However, I do know the song from Juno, and I love it to death!

Hated it. Hollywood's attempt at creating an 'indie' film. The dialogue was just god awfully cheesy and over-written. The characters were all so obvious and oblivious. The characters themselves are just annoying. Juno was a disgusting display at Hollywood's attempt at creating a hipster that everyone can like. Everything about her was annoying. Throw a few musical references in there, a somewhat empty plot line (it could have been good if the characters fed off of it; but it felt like they were trying so hard to be their characters that any emotional attachment to them I could have had was thrown away in the whisper of a cheesy one liner).

Juno reminds me of Knocked up, superbad and Wedding crashers. A comedy that critics (and nearly every one else) loves. But i just didnt find funny. maybe 5 funny lines in the whole film.
Ellen Page may well be a brilliant actress, Hard Candy is excellent. But i was just bored for the most part. Which as the film is only like 95 mins long was quite an acheivement.

Well, I finally saw Juno tonight... A rough collection of thoughts:

- There was a lot of hype behind the movie, and to some extent I think it was warranted, but on the flip side, I was very happy that the TRS guys moved in quick to burst that bubble for me. As one of those "milestone" films about kids growing up and getting in touch with their feelings, I'd say its a pretty damn-good example. The problem is, kids my age tend to turn more towards Garden State. Thats just my feeling...

- Although the ending is positive and makes you feel good, it really seems like it tries to be a downer movie a bit too often. I dunno, maybe its because of some of the parallels in my life (no, I don't have anyone preggerz), but I kinda left that whole situation feeling a little sad by the end. Odd, really...

- I have to admit that going in, I felt like I was going to connect the most with Cera's character... And in the end, I ended up relating most with Stateman. I'm not sure why, but I just felt bad for him, and saw some similar overtones in my own life. Not wanting to grow up, sick of being told what to do, wanting to stay "forever young" or whatever.

Who knows...

I think that in all, the best I can give Juno is a 8/10 as well. The hype machine prevented me from loving it, but nevertheless, I will likely change my opinion if I watch it again.

Did I mention that I watched it with my ex-girlfriend?

Yeah. That may have put a cap on it.

I wish Jennifer Garner was banned from all movies ever.

Apart from that the movie was watchable. But nothing special.

6/10

Just watched this a few nights ago, it was the girlfriend's pick so I wasn't looking forward to anything good. I didn't really catch any of the hype for the movie that others are mentioning here (but I rarely watch the news or entertainment shows, so I'm pretty much out of the loop all the time)

To my surprise it was a good watch. Quite a bit funnier than I expected it to be... sarcastic funny in most cases, but pretty good all around. My girlfriend's best friend is very much like Juno (same attitude, dresses sorta the same, she's even pregnant right now) so a lot of humour was derived from that I think. And ya, there's some great one-liners there.

I just watched this movie a few days ago, and I must say, I love it. Despite the fact that my friend calls it a "chick flick" I still think it is a must see and a great movie.

I realize it's about a year old, but it's still fantastic. I love the character of Juno, and Ellen Page portrays her perfectly, IMO. Plus, Michael Cera was just meant to play Paulie (or Polly?) Bleaker, in all of his awkwardness. All in all, for me it was just one of those feel-good movies that just made want to go "awwwww."

Thoughts? Loved it? Hated it?

Apologies, I usually use the search bar, but got overly excited while posting this in hopes of reading opinions of this movie.
