o apparently I was called for jury duty back in Feb 01 2012, never got no notification letter or any kind of notification. 25th December I get an enforcement letter in the mail . But I didn't get the letter until Friday just gone and its for $1715 for not attending jury duty and that it, was due for payment on the 22nd Jan of this year

I received with the enforcement letter a annulment form. I wrote that I didn't get no notification of said possible jury duty and the enforcement letter wasn't received until last Friday (which reading online that I have to fax this form to the sheriff and they will say yay or nay regarding fine) So since it's a long weekend I can't contact any agency ie the sheriff or state dept until Tuesday.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? And in all seriousness should I just explain exactly what happened, that I never got a original letter of notification for the said jury duty OR a penalty notice OR a reminder of penalty notice in the mail in the last 12 months.

Also I haven't moved address for over 3 years.

Nope.

Never even been called for jury duty.

But how can one person not get jury duty letters in the mail.

Either Auspost really screwed up, or someone is just screwing with you by taking your mail.

Question well one of many ill be asking the sheriff on Tuesday is that are they sent registered mail or anything?

My wife got a letter from her doctor because she can't sit for long periods. Now she does not get called for jury duty. My Dad used to dress up as a bikie to not get selected. He even got his ears pierced at 45yo.

I have also never been called for jury duty. I am a sticky beak so I want to do it for the experience and to hopefully gain a few good stories.

As for three letters, how come none of those were registered post? I don't like fines without proof. If someone has signed for a letter and not responded to its contents then fine them all you want. But if you cannot prove that they got through then how can you fine the non dutyer?

My friend got selected.

Told him to tell the judge this in these words.
I am not smart enough to listen to what witnesses say or think about what verdict to give.
