My parents, one of the family friends, his daughter, and I went to Stephens Gap (a cave herw in North Alabama). It was probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I'm not one of these that gets caught up on pretty places. I'm usually good with seeing things once amd being done. This place, though, I already want to go back. Keep in mind that im not the biggest fan of caves. I always worry about natural disasters, and when im in a cave I worry about earthquake's even though we've never had one. Anyways, I believe there are multiple entrances to get into the cave, but we only saw two. One is the one rappellers like to use the other is for peope who can't or aren't looking to rappel. You come up on this ledge and there is a good drop to the bottom. There's also a pedestal that the rappellers can get on. You can also follow the edge to a narrower edge that has a big rock in frong of it. If you climb over the rock (wouldnt suggest this for kids), you can walk back and there's another hole with a waterfall coming out of it. I'm sure you can get in there, but we didn't go in. I will admit, it's pretty sketchy getting over the rock. Its pretty slick and right on a ledge of a drop. Getting back off of the rock to get back on the ledge is easier though since you can just sit on it and find a good spot. Anyways, I'll shut up and post the pics if I can. I'd definitely check it out on Google. Way better quality pics than mine. Oh, I should mention that if you plan to go, be prepared for a rough hike. It is definitely worth it, though. Also, be very careful. It is pretty sketchy when you try to go around the sides. The shelf is pretty flat and isn't really slick, but its wet and there are big drops that could kill you if you slip.
Ok, it wont let me upload right now. I'll upload them when it lets me.
