Just another Noob to add to the list

Hey my names Jay. I live in CT. I been following drifiting for a while, well I have about 4k right now and I am working on getting up to about 6k. I want a nice car for drifting but I don't know what I can get here in the states. Well I came here to learn as much as I can and possibly find out some more info on different cars. I need help on deciding on a car, and I was wondering if you guys could help me out?!?! Well thanks and get back to me. I will probaly be here alot now. :)

But heres the link 86 RX-7 Wuts all this I hear about us having a version of the AE86 in the states? I though we didn't have the Levin or Trueno here? Hi, first off, welcome to GTP. Now...

I can see, another person that wants an AE86. In the U.S., you have the Trueno version (pop-up headlights). It's a 1985-1987 Toyota Corolla GT-S. Check out the "I Need A Ae86" forum for more information. The chances of you finding this car, are slim to none. And if you do find one, it's either overpriced, or in **** condition. With $4,000-$6,000, for an unexperienced drifter, I'd go with an S13, 180SX, or an FC3S. The AE86 stock only pushes 112hp, and it will take serious modifications to drift an AE86 the way I know you're thinking about. But seriously... the AE86 isn't fast (stock), and you really need to know what you're doing to make it drift. There's my

I also jes checked out a 91 turboed MR2. I dunno tho. I heard it will be shytty for drifting because of how close the wheel base is. and its a mid-rear engine or something. I can get one of those for 6k with low miles and a mint body. I am seriously considering it. I just want to get a few more opinions before I throw down the paper. Let me know. Thanks.

Tom, he's referring to the FC3S, YEAR 1986. :D

EDIT: Or is he really referring to the Hachi, ouch, confused haha

Yes, deity you are correct. I am checking out the AE86. I like the RX-7 but of course, it's nothing special. Deity you tell me to get one of those cars but, man, I'm in the states. There's nothing like that around here. I can't get my hands on a silvia or 180sx. I would like to get something farely decent, but it seems the only cars that I can get around here are MR2's or 240sx. Well if you know of some resources or got some other ideas for cars, let me know. Lata

MR2s wont drift. And if you're paying only 6k for a Turbo, there's soemthing very wrong with it.

Hey I saw an MR2 drift. It was an SC'd 93. Crazy shyt. Not trying to be a dick or anything. Just thought that I'd let you know. Nice nice looking car too. Blue Boomex with white rimz and decals. Thing screamed though. I know you can drift alot of cars. Heh I just saw in Drift magazine a damn civic that can. I was just wondering what would be a good car to start with. I am a really good driver just, I lack the experience. So I would like something nice to start with. And BTW how the hell are all of you making "hybrid" cars and doing motorswaps? I have Grand Turismo 3 for PS2. And I don't think you can swap motors? Thanks. Lata

You can drift in anything but the most popular cars for drifting are the Toyota AE86, Nissan 180SX, 240SX, Silvia, and Mazda RX-7. You could probably afford any of those cars already, but if you buy a $6000 one instead of a $4000 you will not regret it. If you drop that much cash on an AE86, S13 Nissan, or FC3S, you should end up with a near-perfect condition car. Just make sure to inspect the car when you look at it, because it's important to find one that hasn't been abused. Check the motor mounts and synchros and stuff like that.

I've seen a bunch of 91 MR2-T's sell for around 6k, they usually just have high mileage. My friend picked up his 91 Turbo for 5k.
