Hi Folks,

This is a post is 2 days old i just forgot to hit submit.

Just arrived in DR:S SR:S with a DS4 (PAD) and struggling, is it because i don't have a wheel? in DR:A SR:S i could qualify in top three 90% of the time, in DR:S SR:S i barely make it into top 10 and they are mostly DR:A drivers, these drivers must be guys that are on the brink of becoming DR:S or people just demoted. But one thing i do know is that i cant keep up at all with the qualifying times, the race itself is different, even if the top 3 are 0.5 seconds quicker in quali, no one seems to break away. What normally happens is everyone sticks within 20 seconds of each other (GR3) then you fight with the people around you, but the quali times i cant compete with these people.

From my experience I would say if you are within 1-1.5 sec off from the Top time on the Leaderboard in Gr3 and Gr4 you will just stay in Dr.S or fluctuate between high Dr.A and low Dr.S. Usually the Guys don’t make bigger mistakes during a race and race pace and consistency are very important. But if you want to raise Dr even further you must come within 0.5 sec off the top times.

I reached a similar status quo in DR:B... you have to adapt your expectations. I no longer look to win races but try to gain as many positions as possible and get great satisfaction from the odd podium or 4th placed finish.

Sport mode isn't about winning, it's about racing people of similar ability. Any win you might get is just a bonus. Until we get (doubtful) championships with 24 people (eg) that never change for a few races (the championship races) the goalposts will always be moving, if you do well, faster people show up to stop you doing well. It's how it works but it does eventually stop you winning when you reach the point where you're maxing your ability and people are still faster. I'm DR:A but see some of the fastest in the world in the dailies all the time, fair to say I don't win dailies anymore.

I’m S rank and I never enter a daily sport mode race if I want a good starting position unless I’m top 10 at least, ideally top 5, outside the top 10 you’re unlikely to get a good Q position (top 3). Obviously it does depend on how many top guys enter at the same time and quite often I get put in poorly matched lobbies with A/B ranks so on the whole I don’t bother much with sport mode.

Pretty much the same for me... my target before racing dailies is a top 10 Q time.

I barely bother with qualy, set a half decent time I'll probably end up beating in the race, and go racing!

I may win the odd one if I took the practice time more seriously but at DR:A even the back markers are rapid so it's all good fun.

So, you found out "S" level drivers are faster than "A" level drivers, and you, usually a top3 in "A" level struggle to get top10 in "S"?!?!?
That's how ranks are supposed to work! You expected the other way around?!?!

The delta between qualifying times and fastest lap times just mean people in "S" rank put a lot more effort in qualifying, because the level is very high, take more risks (turn off TCS in Q, put it on in Race, for example) and when you are fighting with several rivals of high level, you have to take many defensive lines, not ideal racing lines, so not so easy to get a perfect lap or run away from the pack.
