Having a blast with it so far, but with my G25 and Throttle deadzone set to zero I still have to press the throttle quite a way (feels like an inch but probably 1cm) before I get any throttle response....in my book that's NOT zero deadzone. Any way around it or is just a case of how the game is?

Which Shift? If the first one then you should had no dead zones, maybe a little like 1%

But if it's Shift 2, then dead zone is 0 Although you may feel exactly different because that's what i feel is driving physics.

Hmmm, I am using the DFGT (PS3) and the throttle and braking adjustments seem to work fine. Actually, that is one thing I cannot get right with the "other game" - I get 100% braking in the first 5% of pedal movement and cannot correct.
Now if there was an adjustment to compensate/improve for my virtual racing abilities I would be a happy camper.

Use the Telemetry screen and it will show you your throttle bar. I forgot what button it is since I remapped mine, but look under controls.

I have to say the throttle and break controls in S2 are much, much better than other games I have played.

As for steering and throttle you can always fiddle with those settings for every car in tunning options. You can tune Brake Pressure, Steering Lock. It might help a lot.

I always use those options to tune my cars. Always!!! Stock car and setup car is like two different games. Like Super Car Challenge and let's say Lotus racing* (released something in 1990)

Shift 2 offers tunning like I've never seen in any other racing games. Cars can behave totally different.

beware with tuning though:
The labels for the sliders for front and rear toe seem to be reversed in (at least) the english version of the game. Moving the slider to the left creates toe out, moving it to the right creates toe in.

proof is in this post using exaggerated values

It might be true. I thought it was me who did not understand this stuff (which I don't :D) but I noticed that the inside of the tires heated up too much even if i move the slider to "toe out"...

Or maye its OK and its not wrong in my game???

@kligson the toe and camber values are negative to the left, positive to the right, its a bit misleading in saying "increasing negative camber will..." which is telling you to decrease (move left) the slider. This confused me for a while as i would mov the slider right and wonder why the car drove lime crap

I have the first game, there is definitely a significant deadzone for my throttle.

I don't remember my g27 having that problem in first shift... but it has been a long time since i've played it.

May I suggest you to try Shift 2 Unleashed... you will return Shift 1 for sure :)

Shift is borrowed so I will be returning it soon! ;)

Seeing as most discussion is shift 2 related I'm going to ask another question about the original.

Any tips on mastering the Karussel when it's used as a point to point race on tier 2. I've only got that corner to master to get the Epic badge and it's bugging me. If I'm honest I completely disagree with the racing line for that corner. I've mastered it on the full track so can't see why I can't get it now.
