Roll this all together and you get the consensus answer. While I wait for my greens to cool... and how come it is the only time we get to eat whatever the heck we want is in our 20s?? I hate growing up... after this, I'm fixing sausage. Anyhow...
GT5 is taking forever
It's hard to argue that. I think even the epic Killzone 2 took more than four years to complete, and there weren't any tidbits along the way from Guerrilla Games. Now, is it a Halo killer? I'd say so, but then I don't think Halo is the best shooter evar.
However, you can apply the same thing to GT5. It's taking five years, minus whatever 12 month plus period it took to make GTPSP, and weeks for Prologue and its updates. Well, and then there's Tourist Trophy on top of that, done by a smaller team. Still, aren't we just about to explode every time we get a screenshot or video? GT5 is looking like it's worth the wait, almost like GT5 and 6 rolled into one game.
Polyphony won't communicate with the fans
Yeah, true. It would be nice if the various SCE branches around the world would have a liaison position hosting sites like Facebook, a page in an official Playstation website, and come here to pal around with us. However, can you imagine the suicide rate of that job??

The mods here have their hands full as it is.
Oh, and let's do discuss forzamotorsports.net, and the Nazi mods clamping down on those with contrary views...
Gran Turismo needs criticism, but the fanboys can't tolerate any of that
Well, yeah, Gran Turismo used to be the pinnacle racing experience on consoles, and even gave PC sims a run for their money for a while. But times change, coders get serious about capturing every aspect of racing they can in their games, and a few years later, Gran Turismo has trouble getting any respect in the PC sim world.
So along comes GT5 Prologue, and it's a huge, HUGE step towards simulation, and in my opinion gets it mostly right. Some things are still a little rough like sound and some low speed issues, and other physics aspects which could use a touch up, but I haven't touched my PC sims for quite a while now because Prologue makes them feel kind of... stale, bland and lifeless. It's more like clinical and technical, but Prologue feels very similar to both GTR and Live For Speed, and it has graphics and music that clobber just about every racing game out there. As good as Forza 3 is, I don't get that same feeling, and I'm really fed up with the bugs. GT5 looks to be a racing sim to even make the PC guys happy. Maybe.
However... this being the age of the hard to please human, Prologue and GT5 both are getting more whining about it than ever. Much improved sound is griped over. Graphics that kill just about every game out are slagged. Trees are burned to the ground. Oh the humanity!

You name it, and napalm is thrown on it.
It won't stop, so I guess we'll just have to ignore it, play our awesome game, and leave the whiners to scribble naughty words in here.
