Although not implicated in the current scandal himself, Pessotto has been involved in a separate doping scandal and was recently appointed as Juve manager to 'restore the club's reputation'.
As a few of you may be aware, Italian domestic football (soccer) looks set to be rocked to its foundations in the coming weeks as investigations take place about match-fixing allegations. Juventus, arguably Italy's most famous and successful football club, as well as AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina stand to be stripped of their Serie A status and demoted to Serie B (or even Serie C1) if the allegations of corruption are proven...
As a friend of mine pointed out, Genoa, who 'won' Serie B a few years ago, were found guilty of fixing just one match, and rather than being promoted to Serie A, they were demoted to Serie C1... that was the heavy punishment for just one match... these teams (although not the players) stand accused of being involved in a match fixing racket (which involved using corrupt referees) systematically over a whole season
