GTPlanet, this topic is one of two topics I want to bring up dedicated to big trucks. If you search for my GT4 thread "Keep on Truckin'!", you'll find on one certain page all types of road racing big rigs. And now, I want to devote an entire topic to these big rig racers. Everything from hillclimbs to road racing is all good in this topic. So if you want to contribute, let us have it!

I disagree kart racer, I wish there were many events held in the US. for Super Trucks Racing. I'm a big fan, due to the massive control necessary to keep those massive rigs planted. Also, drifting a big rig constitutes as an amazing site.

Europe can keep those damned things. Not having them here is a good thing, very few race tracks are safe enough for them in the US. As a marshall I have no will to have them racing around with only 1 3000 pound piece of concrete stopping them.

I like it considering how much skill it requries you to manuvere a big lets guess a 10 ton truck on a race track doing about 60-80 MPH? think about what would happen if there was an accident or something! I really enjoy it. Oh and one time I rember Boris Said did a race in it! One of my favorite drivers.

Something else to consider, Panoz attempted to get it started here in the US... and it has failed miserably. No offers, hell out of the 4 trucks only 2 are left. One burned in the parking facility while they had to repair the other at road america. Pavement issues have to be considered along with safety issues.

Probably, they have tried for 3 years to get it up and running. No orders that I know of but don't hold me to it. Plans were for a real series next year but with the previous line I doubt that will happen. Frankly between safety, pavement and lack of sales issues Im hopin PMG just writes it off.

I think truck racing is quite fun to watch. I havn't really seen any raing in Australia. We have some good tracks that trucks would run well on over here.

In the European truck championship the trucks are resricted to 100mph top speed for safety reasons. I wouldnt like to be trackside when they 'run out of road' though :ill:

I think it's awesome! They run so close, and at such high speeds for those types of vehicles. I have the game, Super Trucks Racing, for PS2, and it's not too bad, but my PS2 is broken and I have to wait another couple of weeks before I can play it again (Just in time for GT4! :) )

And John, I saw you mentioned hillclimbs. Any of you ever watch that? The PPIHC (or Pikes Peak International Hill Climb) has a driver named Mike Ryan who drives his Freightliner FL70 up the side of a mountain at speeds of up to 110mph. . . . . . . with NO GUARDRAILS! That's cool to watch cause the roads are dirt and Mike slides the truck around on every turn. I asked him to send me an autograph a while back, but I never got one...hmm?

I just pictured a big rig at Bathurst...scary! :scared:

Big Rigs make the best tractor pullers. IF you've ever seen 'em live, its nuts. As for road racing, i wish i could say im a fan. I just havent seen it. Caught maybe one or two shows on Speedvision, but thats about it.
James-

They used to race big rigs on NASCAR ovals here in the US. I have seen a few on some tapes one of my friends has and I have to say it looks like a blast. From what the announcers were saying it sounds like the rigs they were racing were regular working rigs. The show some of it in Smokey and the Bandit 3(I think its in 3)

I have also been to a big rig drag racing event, again with regular woking rigs. Tt was really fun to see how quick a big truck can be.

As for the big rig raging they do in Europe I think its fun to watch, but I would not want to be track side for a run-away, even with the speed limit.
