Korea's Land Rover: SsangYong Rexton

If you were to remove the badges people would assume it was something more "upmarket". It does look a bit Mitsubishi-ish in some ways. It's certainly got quite a classy interior.

The Tivoli was a very upmarket looking car for it's segment and they seem to have translated it into this, SsangYong are getting better for sure.

Body-on-frame, proper 4WD, and a turbo diesel? Not to mention:

SsangYong makes no bones about it, this is a car for people who go to weird places

This sounds like something I could drive. But I doubt they'd ever attempt to sell them in the US, especially with a name most Americans probably can't pronounce.

Much better than the old ones, still not something I'd see my self seen in.
That's what people said about Toyota, Mazda and Honda 40 years ago. And about Kia and Hyundai 20 years ago.

Honestly, what @IfAndOr said is true. Without seeing a badge (and already knowing I was in one and likely to be following another one on the test route), my brain read the one in front of us as a Cherokee. Then a Hyundai Santa Fe (sorry, SsangYong), and then a Mitsubishi Outlander.

It's extraordinary just how mainstream this car is now.
