This quirky little 500KK was purchased by racer Jack Ensley from Indianapolis who installed a Rochester fuel-injected 283 cubic-inch Corvette engine and mated it to a four-speed gearbox. In this configuration, Ensley planned to race it at the 1958 Road America 500, but it was not finished in time.
The car was later sold to former B-17 pilot Joseph Concannon who later sold it to Duke Knowlton. While in Knowlton's care, the car was raced in the Midwest during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
