I heard a few requests for instructional videos so I went ahead and gave it a shot. Well, it didn't turn out as good as I had hoped but it should give you the idea. The video is here:
http://pergatory.hypertextmarkup.com/tempvid/

I tried to keep it simple so mostly just powerslides and brake drifts here (plus a little e-brake on the last corner because I screwed it up so badly).

I figured I would include my AE86 settings too, since seeing how to drift in my car may not necessarily help you drift in yours. This is for Shigeno's Trueno fully modded out with Stage 3 NA (not turbo) and simulation tires.

Springs: 8.8 / 9.5
Ride Height: 103 / 103
Shock Compression: 7 / 5
Shock Rebound: 7 / 5
Camber: 3.5 / 2.5
Toe: 0.0 / 0.0
Stabilizers: 1 / 1

Brakes: 14 / 14

LSD Init Torq: 54
LSD Accel: 54
LSD Decel: 54

Downforce: .24 / .26
ASM: 0
TCS: 0

Goooood Vid .Steering wheel ownage.I after seeing that have to have a wheel.LMAO you made that 86 scream it guts out i was waiting for the splosion  .

Great Drifting.. thats awesome im gonna look at it again.

hey mak.. i sent the info. How many umm vids is it on.

Awesome control! From your video I'm going to try turning earlier like the way you do it. I tend to wait more and then do a brake drift and then get the rear wheels to slip and I drift through. I like the way you control with the counterstearing. I bet the replay with the counterstearing would look awesome.

Out of curiosity, did anyone try the settings? I'm curious what their experience was like. I noticed my cars are all tuned quite a bit different from anything else out there so I was wondering if I just have a really strange style or what.

NICE NICE
i like the way you drive. slow entering corner allow longer accelerating time after exit. best way to drift on laguna seca. it's trully skill.

i would like to see more of your instructional videos.

nothing wierd about your settings. it's more realistic this way. my friend called a company makes LSD, he been told 2 way LSD is mean for drifting. i konw nothing about it, would like you to explain the LSD settings please.

Thanks!
I am not entirely sure about diffs, but here's my best guess so far:

Higher number means less slip. So, the higher the number, the greater the difference in wheel speed will be allowed. Lower number means more of an open diff, and higher number means closer to closed/locked.

As far as which is better for drifting, your guess is as good as mine. I just mess with it until it feels right, I've found that a more closed diff (higher number) generally makes the rear-end more responsive. If you have high accel for example, the rear will come out aggressively, whereas with a low accel, the car will tend to rotate around the center of gravity rather than really popping the rear-end out. I think lighter cars tend to use a little more of an open diff than the heavier ones.

Unfortunately I've never had the luxury of tuning a diff in real life, so I don't really understand much about them honestly.
