Its all good. Crusing in first, making best laps after laps, chilling out to my songs doing so.......until all of the sudden crap happens during the final lap.

Opponet suddenly passes you: they were far away until they just randomly pass you causing you to take second.

Car pulls random stunt on curve: The car went slower than usual on the curve. Drifting so slow your opponet passed you.

Car falls on grass on the last minute:Suzuka's specialty. Going for glory going for grass. Undoing all your work.

Car behind you shoved you into the wall:This aggravates me the most. Looks like PD wants to pull a speed racer stunt.

Do you guys keep expierencing this? The first part of the "last lap blues" happen to me the most. But in GT4, it is a rare thing to happen to my car.

Easy solution: Turn the music off, and stop 'cruising in first'.

I have the same experiences, however, sometimes, but it is usually more a case of not being able to gain first place rather than retain it i.e. just having an 'off' day.

Okay the term "crusing" i used means racing everyone knows that. My cars do pull weird stunts but not as often compared to gtpsp. It happens a lot now.

I swear that the AI gets an extra 10mph on the straight at Sarthe on the last lap. Also my car seems to have lost most of its grip in the Porsche curves. Same speed, same brake points -> previous lap good, this lap into the gravel.

Its the RBE, and I don't like it.

Yeah it happens to me too in that track.

aha, and I thought it was just me svcking at the last lap at Le Mans. But the Porsche curves are actually always a tad to difficult. I make up for it by cutting the last 2 chicanes a bit :embarrassed:

And yet another glorious win by..... :D

I do that aswell. Whenever i race on le sarthe in a fast car on ranks s if i am ahead of them by one second or more they somehow catch up to me really quick. not only does this make the race harder it makes it less fun sometimes

anybody bother to turn on tire wear?I have less rubber banding if that's on.

I tried this method before and it kind of worked/ Since we know the rbe effect is quite big, I tried not racing my fullest and stayed behind the 2nd car. then on the last lap at some corner, I'll just overtake. Either close or quite close to the finish point. Of course, You have to be also quite consistent, but this should push down the rbe quite abit.

Do you mean changing the tires?

As I've said many times, RBE sucks. However, I've tried to live with it, and as a result I'm now a much more consistent driver, and I'm able to handle pressure much better. So I guess RBE has its merits as well.

I know what you mean. It seems like no matter how far behind they are or how much faster your car is than them, they will, catch you on the straight. For example, I use the Veyron alot & I'm racing Citreon GT's, they only go 235, Veyron goes 248 & if I was more than 2 seconds behind them, I can't draft & I don't catch up but even if they're 4 seconds behind me where it's impossible to draft, they'll catch up. It's no big deal except for when at the end of that straight they ram me at the tight turn at the end.

It's soooooooo annoying when the AI cars ram you

true :grumpy:

I don't actually think the AI is bad at all. Perhaps the AI is now developed enough to use the drafting techniques to catch up.

Besides during a 5 lap race even on A rank i can't seem to put more than 2 seconds on the next car if I'm in first. However, it seems horrifically easy to crash out and recover in last place and still make to 1st by the end of the lap - no one seems to mind...

Different drivers in race cars hit strides in terms of pace at different times during a race, maybe PD has tried to emulate that by having their AI drivers start a bit slow and make a push towards the end of the race. Sure it sounds silly especially when you can set the amount of laps to 1, but its worth pondering.

Not really, they're still stick to their racing line. Try racing on the Test Track and keep to the left and you'll see.

You know, if you watch the replay of a race, look at the car behind you, sometimes the indicated speed is lower than yours but they are not falling behind and sometimes they are even catching up. This is most noticable on The Nurburgring.

ive seen that aswell

I find they stick to the line when the are far behind but when they get relatively close they will leave the line to draft.

A lot of people suffer from FLFU (Final Lap ... you can figure out the rest) for various reasons. It has never affected me much in career mode, but I get hit with it bigtime in online/adhoc racing.

In the case of GT PSP it's at least partially attributable to RBE, but the rest of it is purely psychological.

Yeah the RBE is a lot bigger on multiplayer mode

Wow, i cant believe how awful the AI is in test course.

Hey I did notice that the cars seem to drive differently each lap. Sort of.

Have you seen them going down the back straight in Sarthe (old)? the AI swerves so much it looks like they may spin out but they don't some how they stay on the track. I guess the PSP's CPU isn't that smart :dunce:

They swerve so much in the long straight road in nurburgring. The 2J race car could of beaten me, but it decided go left and right so much they lose tons of speed.

yes it could have and i am guessing that the PSP's CPU was the problem here. not much you could do for a 333MHZ processor these days in terms of a smart AI

Gosh they ram my car the most in Cathedral rocks 3.

you know what course can be even worse? New York (not reverse). After you take the first turn (the U-turn type turn @the beginning), at the end of that straightaway, your opponents will slam into that wall & into you unless you take a different turning line. Oncw my game glitched when the cars slammed into that wall behind me (I was in 1st), then when I get around the next turn, one of the cars that hit the wall was sitting there completely still. It was weird bcuz the screen said I was still in 1st place too even though the car was in front of me. It didn't start moving until I passed it and went around the next turn. It was really weird & hasn't happened again. I'm kicking myself for not saving the replay bcuz I could've seen exactly what happened to that car. it's like it went through the wall and popped out up the street lol
