Last Week Winner Powers

Well, first of all, I everyone.

Secondly, I would like to know the opinion about Tie Breaker Polls vs. The last competition week and theme chooser to choose the winner in a case of tie in the poll.
Has you could see in the PMC week 142 tie breaker poll, I decided that the theme chooser and last week winner (in that case was Beerz) decided the winner (since he voted for Swiss photo, he was declared the winner). I could have done a tie breaker of the tie breaker poll and it ended again in a tie.

What I want to do (at least for PMC and Artistic; if the other competitions would also like, that’s with the hoster), is to eliminate the tie breaker poll, leaving the theme chooser to decide (in case of a tie) in a normal poll.

I would also like to increase even more the last week winner powers. Seeing if this encourages people to participate more in competitions and to drop an even more quality entries in order to manage to win.

I was thinking on putting a top 5 if there weren’t more than 10 entries; or let the last week winner choose weather too put all entries in or to put only a top 5 or a top 10; or to put the entries he/she sees it fits better the theme (for example, there are 11 pictures but just 7 fits the theme and are absolutely amazing pictures, the theme chooser can choose to put in the poll only those 7 pictures). I don’t know if it would work well, though.

I would like to hear your opinions, suggestions, some flaws it could present…

The only problem I can see is this; what if the theme chooser voted for a photo that wasn't part of the tie? How about doing it the way it was handled last week: make a tie-breaker (that way, the other people who didn't vote for one of the tied photos could vote again), and if that ends in a tie, then let the theme chooser break it. Just my two cents.

The way you handled it though, LdS, was good. Give the tie-breaker poll, if thats tied, go with the choice of last weeks winner. Just the way it was handled this week worked well.

I really like that idea. Top 5 or 10 based on entries would add something fresh...due to the general lack of activity. giving the previous winners something more than just picking a theme would be great.

The best thing to be done (IMO) is having no Top 10 at all (or Top 5). All people should enter the polls, its fair to all. In CCCL comp. that "rule" is applied.
About Tie Breaker polls, let them stay. I agree totally with Ty00123.

First of all, I think LdS did a good job on the tie breaker polls. It was a very good idea to let last weeks winner choose the winner.👍

I partly agree with the no top 10 thing, but like what Atlop and I did for the UEC was fair and simple. The winner gets to decide whether they want a top 10 or not, that way, it makes thing rather simple if there were more than 10 entries. 👍 (easier on the host that is )

+2 on the tie breaker polls. You rarely get tie breakers anyhow....

About tie-breaking, IMO if the previous winner voted either of the top two shots in that case his/her vote would decide the winner, if not then a tie-breaker poll would be needed.

I also support the idea of only top 5 poll (or something between 5 and 10 or 12 or something), but the number of shots in the poll should be decided when the week starts. If prev winner needs to decide how many shots he/she puts in the poll after seeing all shots it's going to create a lot of pressure to include all photos ("why did you leave my shot out when you could have put it in there").
