So I'm sure everyone here knows what launching is. Am I the only one who thinks the launching in GT5 by just completely holding down the throttle is stupid? I would much rather have a more realistic launch system, considering this is a driving simulator.
In real life holding down both the throttle and breaks would just turn into a burnout. I know launching at higher RPMs in real life would require stall converters, but PD could just do the average, or fill it in somewhere in the drivetrain or transmission settings.
What do y'all think?

Holding down the break while standing "activates" the clutch and leaving the break lets the clutch come (sorry I could not find another word ) in the right way... So the computer helps you with starting...

In GT? G27's clutch trigger is...the clutch. What wheel are you talking about?

OT, I think PD knows this, I could be wrong but maybe its why we have rolling starts - except online.

I think rolling starts are in the game to give the AI a chance - using standing starts a player-tuned car will slaughter the AI. Just think about how many people used heavily overpowered cars even for the Sunday Cup when the game came out.

If a better AI was to be implemented, a fairer grid would make it a better challenge. Then of course the game wouldn't be as accessible, so be prepared for some grade-A whinging :sly:

Maybe the hardcore mode mentioned might be adaptable to include this.

I dont think this is what the OP means, i think he is talking about the fact that 100% throttle on a high power car in real life will just result in a standing burn out, where as in GT5 full throttle starts are always the way to go, but unless you have launch control it would rarely be the best way to get maximum power/traction down .

If they would just follow Turn 10 a bit better, we wouldn't have a problem with this. Standing starts are in all Forza races, and they work just fine. PD needs to enforce PP restrictions for all events, and perhaps some others like a maximum power limit or minimum weight. Then, for accessibility, they just need driver aids to help less-skilled players, as well as an option to change AI difficulty. Finally, to encourage players capable of beating the AI on harder settings and without aids, have it so that players receive a bonus in winnings for racing without aids or with harder AI; or penalize the lesser players by deducting from winnings if they use aids or easier AI.

You could launch any car in the world at full throttle if you had the ability to change tires with the push of a button and tune all your gears specifically for launch like you can in GT5. Launching at full throttle only works really well when you have the combination right. If you don't, you either get a lot of wheelspin or bog down, in either case, you get blown away by the rest of the grid if they are well tuned.

I said in the right way which means he does not jump off the clutch, he lets it go away smooth... btw I am using DS3, no wheel, this means I have auto-clutch...
But yes, I also think they could improve this...:)
