1998. It was an action packed year for motorsports. It also showed some dominating seasons. The Mercedes pummeled the FIA GT1 class, Jeff Gordon & Mark Martin combine to win 20 out of 33 races in NASCAR, with Gordon taking 10 of the last 13 races of the year. An R33 Nissan Skyline sweeping driver and team points in JGTC. Mika Hakkinen and Michael Schumaker combining to win all but TWO Grand Prixs in F1. The 24 hours of Le Mans in 1998 was a break in all of this dominance. It proved that once an for all, the fastest car doesn't always win. The Toyota TS020s and Mercedes CLKs dominate qualifying, but all cars in both teams suffer mechanical failure. The fastest LMP class car, the BMW V12 LM, lost both of their cars to mechanical failure as well. Although the #1 overall finishing car is not featured in this game, and neither are any of the LMPs, there's still plenty of excitement to experience with the cars from this era in Gran Turismo 5!

The Le Mans 1998 Season of GT5 uses the homologation era cars that are available in the game, as well as a couple of representative LMPs. Races will last about 60 minutes, with endurance rounds lasting about 100 minutes.

I also have a YouTube video showing an example lap for each car (laps done with SOFT TIRES with stock suspension, stock LSD, 224mph tranny, maximum regulated downforce, and the regulation shown in the video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a7nrsidyVE

Rules and Regulations
I'm going to put the hammer down on this series to make sure that no BS happens here.

Tire Regulations
Racing Medium tires only. Period. If you want to use Hard tires, that's your loss. Intermediates and Rains can be equipped in appropriate conditions.

Room Settings
Slipstream: Weak
Grip Reduction: Real
Race delay: Slowest qualifying time rounded to the nearest 10 seconds (a 1'43 as a slowest qualifying time would result in a 100 second race delay)
Visible Damage: Off
Mechanical Damage: Off (both turned off strictly for reducing lag)
Penalties: Off, I will be enforcing my own penalty system.
Collisions: On (Will be turned of for qualifying to prevent drafting)
Tire/Fuel: Normal

Time of Race
Races will be held weekly, alternately between Sunday and Saturday, with the race starting at 7 PM EDT.

Late/No Show Policy
I will give a 10 minute grace periods for life issue, lagouts, router resets, and cache clearings. Once it is past race start, qualifying times will no longer be accepted, and all people that didn't qualify must start at the tail end of the pack, NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you tell me that you will show up to a race, and then don't without giving a good reason, it's an immediate one race suspension, and a docking of 5 points (10 overall points). If you miss a second race like this, it's a 3 race, 10 point suspension. A third offence, and you are kicked from my league, absolutely no questions asked. Again, NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you know you won't make all races, let me know beforehand.

Qualifying/Race procedure
My room will typically be open my 3 PM EDT on race day. I will be posting a room number, bolded, in a message saying that a room is open. This number will be crossed off if that room is closed. You will have until 10 minutes before the race starts, to set down your qualifying time. If you have not set a qualifying time before then, I will have to take your best lap.
When you are ready to qualify, notify me, and you will get one warmup lap followed by two practice laps. I will be watching the live timing monitor during this time to make sure your lap time is correct. It will be recorded in a Google Docs spreadsheet that will be made public and a link posted here to see.
I will be reg checking you before qualifying and before the race. Please be patient during this process, and PLEASE don't walk away from your console just before pre-race inspection without notifying me. It just speeds up the process if you are there to enter the track.
Once everyone that is available is blued up, the race will start, I will call out the starting out by first text, then by mic. DO NOT TAKE OFF ON THE START. All starts will be rolling starts based on the track's slowest turn. For example: Grand Valley's slowest turn is 55 mph, add 10mph to that for a pace speed of 65mph. We will line up double file on my command, and the green flag will be taken at the Start/Finish line. Jumpers will be penalized, so if you think you jumped, it's best you hold back.

Contact
I understand contact happens during a race, but there are line that can be crossed, and crossing them will lead to a penalty
Bump Drafting
NO! Any intentional bump drafting resulting in a significant gain in speed will result in a penalty to the driver giving the bump draft, and a smaller one given to the person receiving it.
Cautions
A safety car period will only be done for a three or more car wreck, regardless of the intensity of it.
Divebombing
I understand brake-lockup, however, intentional divebombing will result in a serious penalty and can get you kicked from my race.
Lag
If you are lagging enough to disrupt my race, leave my room so I don't have to back out, kick you, and restart the entire thing. Plus, if you back out due to lag, and rejoin within an 8 minute period, you can rejoin the race. If I kick you... you can't rejoin.

Shortcutting
For the most part, all of my selected tracks are tough to shortcut. However, setting more than half of the car into a possible shortcut area, is strictly prohibited.

why not the audi r8 because it was only put in a year later?

For several reasons:
1: That was the Audi R8R, and it actually looks a lot different from the '00 - '02 Audi R8.
2: I don't think any of the Group C cars are really a suitable replacement for the Audi R8C.
3: This is a 1998 season only series.
4: For the Audi R8 '01 to compete, the car would more than like run about 510hp... giving it FAR more superior tire wear
5: Too popular of a car.

Hey, if you guys encounter at team called ZGR then kick them from your room or stay away from them on track, 2nd night in a row they raced 100% dirty, they only race lmp

Viper is at least 1.5 seconds faster at Grand Valley than the Vette. The Viper should be 1170kg at least with 10hp less.

I'll most likely run another test car on Saturday just to make sure that I've got everything under wraps here. The GT1 class is made to take off in the first 25-30km in the race, and then the LMPs will start reeling them in with better tire wear. The GT1s will pit around every 75-85km while LMPs can get 110-120km on a set of tires.

Note: I found the notebook where I wrote down all of my rules for the IKA (REAKL). It was interesting, each race was 75km, and I had 12 full-time spots, which means you were obligated to show up to at least 75% of the 16 race schedule... but here's what was interesting: I allowed 4 part-time open slots, which allowed anyone to join. The only catch was that you could only participate in 8 races, maximum, if you were in a part-time slot. Stuff you can do with a one-make race.

CJ, your line entering Porsche corner is friggin unbelievable. No way in a million years could I ever think about taking Porsche THAT wide and be consistent.

Seeing that your pull vote is set in stone, why dont you change it to monaco or
Madriad for the final
Race, dont have to its just a idea
