I'll add this to the first post as well.

Thanks to everyone for playing and congratulations to race'emhard for winning. SagarisGTB for picking every winner, and Tintorera for filling out the podium. Also great job by BKGlover for choosing the Delta Wing to crash out in hour 8, very close to the actual crash.

The LMP2 class was by far the toughest to pick, with most scoring 0 points.

Deadline: Before The Race Starts Saturday afternoon June 16

You are welcome to change your submissions as often as you'd like before the race starts

Entry List to help you make your picks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans

There are 4 Classes of cars racing at Le Mans

LMP1
LMP2
GTE Pro
GTE Am

If a car does not finish the race, it does not score any points. Points will be awarded in a 10-6-5-4-3-2-1 format depending on where the car finishes in it's class.

You are allowed to pick 2 cars from each class. But the trick is you cannot pick two of the same type of car from each class. Please include the car make, model, and number.

For example, you cannot choose both Toyota TS030s. But you can choose one Audi R18 and one Toyota TS030. Or one Toyota TS030 and one Lola Toyota. Same rules apply inthe GT classes. You can't choose two Ferrari 458s or two Corvette C6.Rs.

So, a proper entry would look like this

LMP1
#4 Audi R18
#17 Dome S102.5

LMP2
#23 Oreca 03
#30 Lola B12/80

GTE Pro
#63 Corvette C6.R
#80 Porsche 997

GTE Am
#50 Corvette C6.R
#58 Ferrari 458

I'm really rooting for L5M to hit it big time this year in LMP2, I'm a big fan of Luiz Diaz and really feel the team deserves it, they're so passionate.

I have a feeling the e-trons will edge out the Ultras in Audi, but really couldn't decide between the two drive line-ups... in the end just went with experience. But as with any new car types, the Hybrids could present a problem during the 24 Hours so the Ultras may very well be more reliable, but if all goes well with the e-trons, especially if it rains (AWD pretty much) they could have it in the bag.

I think the Porsches are gonna be the ones to beat if they really have that car together like they say they do, so I'm expecting them to finish highly. The Ferrari pick was kind of a random one... I just don't know about Corvette this year, they look good but I have a weird feeling.

The AM picks were based on previous race results :/

Probably got more chance of getting this right than F1 at the moment.

Dothe E-tron Audi and regular diesel Audi count as different cars?

Well the "different car" rule was meant to increase the difficulty by not allowing someone to pick two cars from a heavily favored factory team, from the prototype or GT class, but the difference in power supply on the Audis and the small changes to the chassis and body to accompany the hybrid system does indeed warrant enough change in the two R18s to consider them "different"

So yes, the Ultra and and e-tron can be considered two different cars. I realize my original post says only one Audi can be chosen, but I'll change that now.

Anyway, my picks

#3 Audi R18 Ultra
#17 Dome S102.5

Alright, here goes...

LMP1
#2 Audi R18 E-Tron quattro (Audi Sport Team Joest)--6 (2nd)
#4 Audi R18 Ultra (Audi Sport North America)--5 (3rd)
LMP2
#44 HPD ARX-03b - Honda (Starworks Racing)--10 (1st)
#23 Oreca 03 - Nissan (Signatech Nissan)--0 (9th?)

GTE Pro
#73 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R ZR1 (Corvette Racing)--3(5th)
#57 Aston Martin V8 Vantage (Aston Martin Racing/Prodrive)--5 (3rd)

GTE Am
#50 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R ZR1 (Labre Competition)--10
#58 Ferrari 458 Italia (Luxury Racing)--0

For my 2nd pick in Am, I had to flip a coin between Flying Lizard Porsche and the Luxury Racing Ferrari. Both have solid lineups. I may change before the race starts...

Pro was a bit easy... Corvette has always done well, and in Recent times, the Bruni-Fisichella combo has done excellent, when they stay out of the Penalty box.

Edit: Look at that. The Ferrari will likely have issues.
In light of that, and the improving pace of Turner, Fernadez, and Mucke, I move my pick to Aston Martin

Can we do a pick for a SINGLE LMP1 privateer squad, since anyone who knows anything will likely pick either 2 Audis, or an Audi and a Toyota? I think that would be good.

But everyone will still just pick Pescarolo.

Thought I'd get this done before qualifying. LMP1 was pretty easy, feel that the Audi's have the upper hand over the Toyota and the Toyota seems to already be picking up issues in the practice sessions. LMP2 might as well drawn it out of a hat to be honest, I think there's 5 cars or so that could win that.

GTE was pretty difficult to pick as well, I have the feeling Corvette are going to be strong but in a sweepstakes thing I got for Sebring I was given the #51 car which showed a lot of potential but died out quickly - so I'm giving them another chance! I also think it's probably one of the stronger AF Corse cars. Also rooting for Aston as the underdog in Pro, I think the car is quick, the drivers are good it's just reliability that seems to be a bit of an issue.

GTE-Am, also very difficult. Some strong teams with some strong cars here (even in last years guise). For me the Aston looks strong, I think with the development Aston have done to the car it could be quick and it has Simonsen who is mega quick and Nygaard who has done his fair share of GT1 racing in the past with Hexis Racing. A pretty strong team IMO. Also, you can't ignore the Porsche's they've been strong over in Europe this year and I think the Prospeed car has a lot of potential to take the win, Abdul Al Faisal has loads of experience in 24 Hour races (he's done the Dubai 24 & N24 with Schubert Motorsport) and Sean Edwards who is a genius behind the wheel of a Porsche.

Anyway, here's my picks:

LMP1 -

Audi R18 e-Tron Quattro - Audi Sport Team Joest (McNish, Capello, Kristensen) #2
Dome S102.5 - Pescarolo (Minassian, Ara, Bourdais) #17

LMP2 -

Zytek Z11SN-Nissan - Greaves Motorsport (Brundle, Brundle, Ordonez) #42
Morgan-Nissan - OAK Racing (Hansson, Leinders, Martin) #35

GTE-Pro -

Ferrari 458 Italia - AF Corse (Fisichella, Bruni, Vilander) #51
Aston Martin Vantage V8 - Aston Martin Racing (Mucke, Turner, Fernandez) #97

GTE-Am -

Aston Martin Vantage V8 - Aston Martin Racing (Nygaard, Poulsen, Simonsen) #99
Porsche 911 GT3 RSR - Prospeed Competition (Al Faisal, Curtis, Edwards) #75

#8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid
#16 Pescarolo Pescarolo 03-Judd

#23 Signatech-Nissan Oreca 03-Nissan
#31 Lotus Lola B12/80-Lotus

#51 Ferrari 458 GTC
#80 Porsche 997 GT3-RSR

#70 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R
#99 Aston Martin Vantage GTE

Honestly, there is only car I want to win, and that is the DeltaWing, all the cars above were just picked at random.

#1 Audi R18 E-tron quattro
#15 Oak Pescarolo Judd

#35 Oak Morgan-Nissan
#45 Boutsen Oreca-Nissan

#51 AF Corse Ferrari 458
#80 Flying Lizard Porsche 997 GT3-RSR

#55 JWA Porsche 997 GT3-RSR
#75 Prospeed Porsche 997 GT3-RSR

It is obvious I have chosen for teams with a Belgian connection or driver, unfortunaly there are no in GTE pro ;)

I do not think the DELTAWING will finish the race. It will retire afther 11 hours.

Here my picks. With a quick reference to the reason

LMP1

#3 Audi R18 Ultra
(would like to see Gené win it both for Peugeot and for Audi :D )
#21 Strakka HPD
(Since Highcroft left the HPD camp, Strakka gets my vote. Sorry Brabs, you got into the wrong HPD this time ;) )

LMP2

#24 Morgan-Judd
(Pity it isn't a Morgan-Ford)
#35 Morgan-Nissan
(same as above :D )

GTE Pro

#74 Corvette
(I like vettes and Oliver Gavin)
#97 Aston Martin
(I like Astons and Adrian Fernandez)

GTE Am

#50 Corvette
(Pedro Lamy is driving it)
#61 Ferrari 458
(Rui Águas is driving it)

one additional bet/prediction (maybe the OP would like to consider this), about the

DeltaWing:
1 - I bet it will finish the race
2 - 8th overall.

I wanted to do this before practice and qualifying sessions but I just didn't have the chance. Still I've not really studied the results or looked at much of the news so I'll just go right ahead with this.

You have two choices.

You either predict what position it finishes the race in, or you predict what hour it drops out and does not finish.

So, your choice should look like one or the other of the following

Delta Wing
DNF / Hour 1

Delta Wing
2nd overall

You can edit your original post and add the pick.

I'll do a sort of a retweet from a "visitor message" a friend left in my member page here in gtplanet. Maybe the ALMS american fans here get interested :)

jjaisli
Lime Rock Park has an on-line contest where you can win tickets to the July 7th race for whoever can correctly guess, or make a guess closest to the number of laps the Delta Wing completes at this year's Le Mans. I'm sure they're bound to get amusing answers.
